My former middle school will no longer be named after a horrible racist! Instead, let’s welcome Louis Armstrong Middle School to the world!

Hey, here's a bit of exciting news. I woke up this morning and saw an article about my former middle school. It is being renamed, and it's being renamed for a great reason. The school I went to was named after a pretty well known eugenicist. And for those of you that are unfamiliar with eugenics, it's the belief that those with European blood are essentially better in every single way, shape, and form

Yay. That's so exciting. I love that there are talks of my Cal Poly Humboldt replacing the Lumberjack mascot with something like a little less patriarchal. So, yeah, I'm really excited about your middle school. And if anyone deserves to have something named after them, it's definitely Louie Armstrong. Just like songbirds his generation and ours an incredible musician. So that's so exciting. Congratulations, by the way, to be in the lung of such a great thing that your middle school is doing

Yes. Okay. So I love that you didn't give them any power by saying their name. Whoever this person is that your school was named after, this is amazing for Black History Month. I think sometimes it can be a little like, you know, you could have done this before Black History Month, but I do appreciate it. Nonetheless, the gesture is amazing. And yeah, I'm so glad that you shared this. That's definitely uplifting

That's why I don't say like our former president's name anymore or talk about him. I always talk about the Ft up things that that administration did. Anyways, I'm rambling now, but I mean, sorry. Thank you. Oh no, I'm genderizing. I have so much to learn. Thank you so much for your point

Yeah. No, it's totally fine, Jazz. I appreciate it. And you catching on to the whole voice and power thing is really important because I'm learning on my own that giving things power through our voice is really, really intentional. And a lot of people don't acknowledge how much our words can impact our lives. So, yeah, thanks for catching on to that. And I can't wait to have more intellectual conversations
