When I notice an actor in a standout performance, I become curious about the other roles they've played and start researching their careers. My movie collecting began in the early 90s as I started a quest to learn about the roles actors from my favorite tv show v, played in. I'd take the city bus to the library, rent vhs tapes for a quarter, and watch the movies. I had a lot of time on my hands as a stay at home mom
I buy most dvds and Blu rays secondhand at Goodwill, Resell malls and from eBay. I always check them for scratches because who wants to buy trash? One of the issues I've run into with constantly buying movies is trying to keep track in my head of all the movies that I have, too often I come home with duplicates and end up dating them back to charity. So I recently got CLZ's movie app, which has been a godsend
Hey, this is so, so cool. I collect movies as well, although I had to sort of restart my collection, so I probably have a 10th of what you have right now. But looking at your collection just wow, you have some absolutely phenomenal stuff there. And like I said, I'm restarting, but I actually for Christmas got a 4k player so I started buying 4K disks as well
If you don't have an heir to your trove of collection, I will happily take it off of your hands, because now I see, just listening to you talk about it, I'm realizing now the benefit, because I started doing the same thing that you do with dvds. I started doing it with books, like, just going, because here, I'd love it. Tammy, you got to come visit
You how fun to restart your collection and learn what's out there. I thought about going to 4k, but that thought is intimidating as I have so much to upgrade. Do you know if 4k will also go by the wayside in favor of digital media? I think that with each new format that's come out, some older and more obscure film don't get released on the new format and become all the more rare and harder to find. Do you have a favorite site to buy movies from?

The Hollywood theater and movie madness are two amazing organizations that are hell bent on preserving film. They also give local filmmakers, or filmmakers, indie filmmakers, an opportunity to display their work in the PDX airport. I don't know if it's still there, but at one point in time, they had a little screening room that just cycled through shorts of independent filmmakers. So, yeah, if you love film, moviemadness.org, you can also Google Hollywood Theater, Portland, two amazing institutions
So, actually, if you look through my pretty small 4k collection, it's predominantly movies that have been released in the last five years. Much of my existing Blu ray collection are like classic films that have been out for a long time. Anything from James Bond of the Back to the future, stuff like that. At one point, I am going to replace some of the Blu rays that I do have with four ks. For example, the box set of Back to the Future
