So my question to you today is food cooking at all of these restaurants, and considering the restaurants that you may go out to, dining establishments, what is the tip expectation where you are on the checks and do you always abide by them? Is it a subjective thing for you, or do you just go along with it because you realize that the waiters are making less than minimum wage or minimum wage, and this supplements their income? I don't know

Okay, first I just have to say that your photos are making me drool over here. They look so yummy and some of them look like things I've never tried. And the textures that tantalize the lips, the teeth, the tip of the tongue. Anyway, tipping. I am a dual citizen between the US and Canada. Currently living in Canada, I'm a bit of a hermit. So I don't out to restaurants very much anymore and all of the delivery services offer

And I can't remember if there was a tipping situation. It was like back in the early eighty s. I can't remember. So maybe you can refresh my memory on that. But I just know that Asia and parts of Europe do not have tipping, and that's great. I don't know what it is about America. I think I do know what it's about more. America is just like the Wild west and the frontier, and it's always been about money

I can't remember where it was, but because it was being tested and now they're making that decision, I think it would be worth it to test. No tipping from all perspectives, from the customer to the employee to the business owner, et cetera. It'll be interesting to see what would come of it, but I think you're right. In the US, there are different things tied into it as status, reputation, money, how money speaks from all of those different angles

And then maybe it would grow into, like, a tip week. No tip week or something. I don't know how to start that. I have to think about that. That's very good food for thought. And by the way, happy Saturday. Thank you. Do

So this is in response to a tip free nation, and I just kind of think that it's unfair and that the company should pay the waiters benefits, the server's benefits, and have added costs into the food prices without adding on the extra fees. Absolutely insane

Wow. It's like they've done a shell game with dollar amounts and language where they've said they've increased menu item prices to include all of these things towards a living wage and said that they're no longer due tips but the additional fees are essentially a tip, right? They've just changed the name of it. I mean, if everything is supposedly included in the menu item price then you don't need additional fees

@SeekingPlumb Tipping in Switzerland, and Italy (a long tine ago)

Yes, you had to be able to read the menus very well. And I agree with Sonny and with you singing plum, saying that it's partly dishonest to force people to tip somehow. The employers should take that. Yes, should pay people decently and yes, not cheat on the customer. The customer has to pay for food
