Fashion on a student budget.you don't need to be rich to have style!

article image placeholderUploaded by @studentlife
Hello, fellow students and community members of Swell. I wanted to post about shopping for clothes on a budget. And if there's anything I've learned is that you don't need a lot of money to be stylish and cute and feel comfortable in your own skin and express yourself via outfits and fashion. Most of my clothes are either I found an incredible deal on sale or I found at a thrift store

Where do you find your best deals?

There's no stains, nothing. It's so nice and so soft. Everything of it, and it fits perfectly. I'm definitely going to be wearing it and I cannot promote this enough to people about like, thrift shopping. Thrift shopping. I definitely think our generation has become more open towards thrift shopping. And I personally am someone that when I was in high school and junior high, all I knew was like, name brand stuff

Yeah throw shopping has definitely become a hobby of mine. Not just for clothes anymore, but like I found really cool things for my house, like really neat furniture, like kitchen stuff. I even found really cool planters for my plants there. So yeah the thrift store is really fun

I have a very interesting preferences on my clothing, though, especially because I'm color blind and I only wear pretty much like five sets of colors, though it's there are not many options for me out there, though. So it's a good interesting and a good topic you brought today

Hey. So my advice for shopping on a budget is definitely thrift stores. But I do agree that there's not a lot of options for a lot of people and sometimes I'll be looking and I just don't find anything that's particularly my style at the thrift stores. And that's when I'll look through actual stores and sometimes they will actually have good sales. Like yesterday I went to the mall and Urban Outfitters and their sales section 50% off their sale and clothes are pretty expensive

Hey, thanks for your response. I agree with you. I'm like about 50 50 when it comes to like, shopping at like, retail stores or shopping at thrift stores. Well, technically thrift stores or retail, but you know what I mean? So yeah, I was kind of like talking about that in my original post. Like, if I'm not shopping at the thrift store, I pretty much like only buy stuff on style

I don't know why I'm laughing, but I just think it's like things are so out of sight, out of mind for people. If you don't deal with something, you don't even think about it. I've never been colorblind, obviously, so I never even thought that that might be a challenge for people. So thank you for bringing that up. It's actually really interesting

The benefits of thrifting!

I feel like the thrift store option is really, really cool because it's also very sustainable for the environment and stuff because it's like basically recycling clothes. I know that I found some of my favorite super nice coats at Goodwill, and I paid like $6 for them when probably they were around 80 or 90 or even over $100 coats to begin with. So I feel like that's a really good way to find, especially winter coats

And I don't know, it was like kind of sad because I love this overall, but I sort of just looked at a higher price range and like better materials because I do want this to last long because I think I'll form an emotional attachment to them. Also, I be lined towards the sales section and it takes patience but like flipping through everything. My sense of style is like sweats and tank tops because my shoulders are very big because I did usage gymnastics and they just never shrunk down
