The nuance of imitation
While it's okay to imitate, one must not present themselves as an imitation. So even though you're imitating something you've learned or a person you admire or respect in your field, or if you are using a tool in a unique way, something you didn't have to create yourself but you're using it for a unique purpose that's presenting the genuine article, but it resulted through imitation.
