Let's Talk Writing with Shibaji Bose, Author of 'A Heart Full of Hope'.
Hello and welcome to the Ask an Author series of conversations on Swell where we talk to writers about writing. I'm Ramya Vivek. And today I am joined by author Shibaji Bose on the Srishti publisher Swellcast. Shibaji has authored two books, Till We Meet Again and A Heart Full of Hope, both published by Srishti to great reviews and I'm really delighted to be able to talk to him today about his books and his writing journey. Hello Shibaji, thank you so much for joining in

I worked on the manuscript to make the story thought provoking and relatable. My focus was to make the readers asking for more. The book did a decent job with its readership in numbers, but for the pandemic, taking a toll on the prospective readers when it comes to the number of books that actually got sold. Like any other writer, I also dream of making my book to the list of bestsellers, which I admit is yet to be realized

It is followed by some compelling manuscripts which makes the editorial team debate on its readability. I think the funny part is while the editorial team debates on its readability, the marketing team actually starts counting the chickens even before they hatch. I mean, how many copies will actually get sold? It is a business in true sense. Now the question is whether I'll get publisher in this exercise or not. In other words, will my manuscript get published?
Ah. One of the most integral parts of any story is crafting relatable and vivid characters in your book, a heart full of hope. Your protagonist, Moyna, is somebody who refuses to be defined by her circumstances, so bringing a complex female character like her to fictional life would have been quite challenging, I'm sure. How did you manage to flesh out such a complex character and yet manage to give your readers a very relatable, true to life female protagonist?

So I would attribute to the relatable and the very real life kind of a character of Moyna who becomes ahana at a later stage, to the fact that I have had the privilege of reading a lot of good stories. A lot of good stories and amazing writers. These stories and the writers, they actually planted the seed in me wherein I started believing that I have a story to tell and it must be read by many people

And I would actually expect a lot of people taking a lot of interest in trying to find out this story about ordinary people. About ordinary people. And yes, a heart full of hope it is. I would love to have their feedback and reviews after they have read my book. Thank you so much, Ramya
