Mythic Quest & Mythic Leadership: Women Drive Ubisoft Film & Television to the Top!
But there's such loyalty to the brand of Ubisoft because they bought such excellent content to the experience. I want to start this conversation off, though, with Danielle because of something I read on LinkedIn, and then I got the PR release about it, which was this incredible fellowship program. It's called the Women's Film and Television Fellowship Program, and it basically allows for women to submit ideas for television shows based on the genre of video games

Hi, Deborah, thank you so much for having us here. This is Danielle Krank from At Ubisoft Film Television Equity, excited to talk about everything we're working on, but happy to start off with the fellowship. This is the fourth year of the Fellowship for Ubisoft Film and Television. And this year we're really looking to attract women, non binary and gender nonconforming voices to reflect what is happening in the world

Hey, I love your enthusiasm. And I love the fact that you're looking at all kinds of people and all kinds of voices to reflect what's going on in the world. It's so important. And you're taking the lead on that. And I'm so excited to kind of get behind the scenes scenes here. And I have a basic question for both you and Genevieve

Hey, Deborah, this is Danielle again. What a great question. So the ways that we look at adapting our material, we really take the time to see what the world is, what the tone is and how big a story we want to tell. So for something like, like the Division, it really makes sense to make a film out of it. It's a big world. It's a big story

But also talk about the times when you've had to really make decisions that are hard because decision making is really where leadership comes in. And I'm just curious about that part of your career so far as knowing that it's not all easy, but it's wonderful when you make the right decision at the right time

He understands how to work with cast and also makes the story shine. And so you get lucky a lot of times, but it's also just knowing yourself knowing your project and moving board. And now I'm going to throw to Genevieve because she can talk about the production aspect that goes into all of these decisions
You do your very best to interview people and assess the body of work that they've had up until that point and hope that they can really execute on the vision that, you know, your creatives have. And at a certain point, you just have to kind of give it up to your gut instinct and your trust in terms of mythic quest. On the second season, the first season, we had a production designer named Mark Worthington, who's absolutely an incredible epic production designer
But aside from that, you have such a tremendous creative team in Charlie Day and Megan Ganz in Rob McGee. And these are people who fundamentally understand comedy, understand how to execute on a brilliant TV show. And I feel like in the case of Mythic Quest, you have brilliant directors, brilliant showrunners, brilliant writers, brilliant actors. And it just all sort of comes together in what I think is really just an incredibly fun and memorable experience

I mean, it has been such a wonderful experience. You don't get to work with a cast and crew very often who really enjoy being there and love each other and make it very apparent on the screen. But all of that love and joy that you see on the screen is very real and reflects in the background. And for us that is gaming. Gaming builds community. It really shapes people's lives. It creates a connection where sometimes we don't realize their connections
One of the other great things about this show is that our team, Rob and Meghan and Charlie, have been really bullish from the beginning about how authentic they want the show to be to the actual world of Eve game making. So from the very beginning, we had one of our video game development Studios RedStorm down in North Carolina, make all of the video game assets that you see on the show from scratch
So I think that there's a lot to be said here about the work that you're doing and the work that can be done when it comes to sort of fusing these two worlds of TV and film and also gaming, because I think historically it hasn't always been done that well. And I think part of the reason is because they don't have that level of communication and dialogue and synergy and teamwork that is very obviously happening with your work at Mythic Quest

We want to find these stories to tell that only we can tell, and we can tell. Well, we have the ability, the production capability of putting together fake video games, which we did for Mythic Quest. As Genevieve was talking about. We engaged our real team at Redstone to create these actual playable sandbox assets for the show

This is a great segue to a question I have about Annabelle Seymour, the winner of the Film and Television Fellowship. So her show that she wrote and pitched and Jones, is called Replay, and it's a love story. And she basically is given the power to play her dating life like a video game. So it was an amazing experience for her to go through the process. I'm sure. And then she won

Thanks for asking about the fellowship. I really am excited to talk about it because it is something really special to us, and it's one of my favorite things that we do every single year. So just to kind of recap what the fellowship is, it's a six month, nonexclusive paid fellowship where we have the writers go through our back catalog of titles but also brainstorm and see if there are any original concepts that they can come up with

It's so exciting for them and anybody who gets involved. And I love how open you guys are to just nurturing people. The mentorship idea of this is so critical to bring in new voices and give them a platform. It's awesome. I have a dream. And I'm going to tell you my dream. My dream is that we open up this conversation to the public, which we'll do right now. But maybe you can invite some of your peeps
Deborah and Taylor, thank you so much for having us. It was fantastic being on this. Well with you. And yeah, we just really appreciate your thoughtful questions and your very kind comments. It's about what we're up to over at Ubisoft. I just want to say that I hope everybody comes and joins us for the premiere of season two for Mythic Quest, which is on May 7. And the other exciting thing that's happening with Mythic Quest is we are dropping an episode early

It is such a fun time, and it just shows what comes out of The Fellowship that we really take it seriously. And we want to make sure that all voices are highlighted. So I hope you get a chance to see that. And then Myth Request on May 7 special Stand alone episode Everlight on April 16. Thank you again. I'm
