Wrestling with Ideology

article image placeholderUploaded by @Sigmachris89
And that can be anything from a religious context to a spiritual to a political. It's very interesting how we as a society and as individuals will classify ourselves into I identify as such and such. We don't necessarily come out and say those words necessarily, but in our everyday life, when I think of identity and I think of ideology, you could say, well, I'm a father or I'm a husband. I'm a professional baseball. Player

Quote so I think the image of wrestling with ideology is such a powerful one because if you're in the ring and you are wrestling, you are miles ahead of somebody who is outside the ring and not even in it to experience life at its fullest

So many interesting facets here and paths to potentially take. And it's this interwovenness of identity and ideology that I really have a difficult time navigating when interacting with other humans. So I tend to think of myself as more let's say I don't describe myself in relation to other people, other relationship, other boxes, labels, ideologies and instead have some sort of I can't quite articulate how I formulate who I am

You know what it's all about. If you want something different, you have to do something different. Whether you brush your teeth with the opposite hand or you brush your hair with the opposite hand. Start small, work your way up. It is about being comfortable, being uncomfortable, getting out of our comfort zone

@Sigmachris89 Your relationship to reality should be like your relationship to your spouse - honest, passionate and private

So this whole discussion, I think that what has happened in the last kind of decade or so, especially with Internet and social media like conversation that used to be very private, would share with your friends and family and maybe with a teacher and a trusted advisor and trusted mentors and things like that, they've all spilled out into the open where people without understanding any context, understanding where somebody's coming from, are going at it. Right, I think, and that unfortunately is very very sad

And that gives me enough information to have the salt that preservative, so that if I come across someone in my business, in my networking. Am I speaking with people on these different platforms that I have a word, an answer that will encourage, uplift, inspire and support them? Again, I might not agree with it, it might not be my thing, but I still have something to offer to them or a resource to direct them to that can give them more information

I think it makes it easier to deal with. You have less cognitive load to deal with, but you ignore a lot of nuance because you have harder lines. Or ignore isn't the word. What other people may consider nuance are hard lines for you, so it makes it easier for you to think think and maybe easier to succeed within that circle when you're within it
