Don't we recollect how we handled a similar problem earlier? Or what worked with a previous boss, in a previous company, or with a previous client? We all have these collective experiences as a part of our personality. We have to own up to that personality, but not rely on what worked in the past. See the difference. Assess the unique circumstances you face now. Use the past as a barometer, but recognize the uniqueness of the present
