Want business? Spell the name with care.

So instead of S-H-A-F-A-L-I they spelled my name as Sh E-F-A-L-I which was still acceptable. In his third email, which came very recently, which I saw yesterday, my name was spelled with AFF. Now, believe it or not, AFF. And yes, I have received emails that addressed me as Mr. Ali. Mr. Shaf Ali. Now, if you're writing an email to somebody, you need to ensure that the spelling is correct, the name is spelled correctly. Why?

What's there in a name? Well...a lot actually. A misspelled name can cost you business, even connections. #business #spelling #emails

Anand though I was quite angry about it. My name has been spelled wrong all the time. So there are so many people who share my name and have different spellings, but then I need to correct that all the time and my surname has even more. There are different spellings for my surname also. It's like srinivasan. And it could be that's something which I've had to live with especially like say, parcels and all sorts of things. My relatives spelling wrong all the time

So, like, you are on a call with a person, and they're constantly pronouncing your name incorrectly, even though you just tell them this is not how you pronounce your name. And it happens, right? So I can totally relate to that. But I would say even I feel the same pain

Whats in a name?

People just don't read into the details at all and they just go on what they think is the closest proximity to what they think the name ought to be, or should be. In down south, I think I was listening to Sangeeta as well, said the H Sungi Tha, and it's very prevalent. DH or the Th connotation is default

Because if he's not giving you attention, if he does not have even this much attention to detail, given that he lacks attention to detail, you can be very sure that you can be very sure that he will do a shoddy job in whatever marketing or website development or content writing that he does for you. In fact, you should shame this guy and tell him that every time you get the name, the spelling of my name wrong. So please don't expect any further communication from my side

Hi, Chef. Avi. I have always been rather I should say, I have a bone to pick with people who do this all the time. And it is very commonplace for me because my name also can be spelled in many different ways. And I have lived in different parts of the country, and each part has a different approach to it. Right. Like Sangeeta said, some people like to use age, some don't, right?

When somebody spells your name incorrectly despite seeing it so many times, it makes you feel that the other person probably is not very serious, probably is not really interested in having a conversation with you. But thank you so much for sharing your beautiful experiences, interesting and funny experiences as well. Talk to you soon. Talk to you tomorrow on clubhouse. Bye

Hi, Sujeet. Thank you so much for posting your reply to this. Well, I can imagine how bad it is when your name is mispronounced. But truthfully speaking, I still think that spelling mistakes are more infused than a pronunciation mistake, especially because we live in India, where everybody pronounces everything differently. For instance, my name has been mispronounced in so many ways. In so many ways

Hi, I and for your very interesting reply on My Swell, it was really interesting to note how your name is pronounced differently across India and abroad. My name, well, is equally mispronounced. But of course, of course, my problem with this gentleman was about the misspelling and not about the mispronunciation, but because you talked so much about mispronunciation and I think they are closely related, my name has probably an equal number of mispronunciations

Hi, Avi. Thanks so much for replying to my swell. It was really nice to listen to your reply because you've got the essence of it. You've got the essence of what I'm trying to say here, which is spell the name correctly. Especially if you are seeking business from a person, the least you can do is spell that person's name correctly here. We are not talking about any kind of salutation. We are not talking about how you are addressing this person
