If society leaned into determinism, how would that shift thinking, language, systems, etc.? πŸ€”

And what if we shifted it to be a thinking of very much deterministic? How would that change what we think, what we say, the systems that we've created, et cetera, et cetera

And even if this determinism society was implemented, we're going to have biases and it's still going to create rebellion and division in our society. And also, I think it's interesting to note that we, as human beings, yeah, we value our autonomy and freedom, free will. It's our base nature. It's who we are

There are some that want their children to be able to practice their faith and their religion at school, and they want that freedom, but at the same time, they don't want other people of other faiths to have that same freedom

I believe he's talking about how a lot of our illnesses that we have, we can't even blame people for the illnesses they have anymore or even for their weight anymore because as you've mentioned, the foods, look at what's in the foods. And a lot of us, we did not grow up under the influence of a farmer. We don't know how to raise animals. Not all of us anyway

Oops my mistake 🀣

It. So in my response to you, I mentioned about weight being a color. I think I was just on a roll, so I just wanted to make an edit to that. But you get what I was saying

@HeyItsErica

But I blinded myself to it because I bought into this idea that beauty can only look a certain way, and it's this constant practice of trying to deconstruct that. And the same is true, I think, for me, around ableism and what is really something that I should work on or should address or try harder, and what is something that is, in a sense, out of my control because of illness or genetics?

It seems like it's cut and dry as far as the definition, but it's still mysterious because people in my support group, they come from all kinds of backgrounds, MMA fighters, vegans, and these are not typically people that you would think would have type two diabetes because we have been brainwashed that type two diabetics look fat and they're lazy and yada yada. But I'm here to tell you, that's not the full truth

Wonderful and thought provoking.

Of course, it posits that the structure and the vocabulary of language shape the cognitive processes and worldview of the speaker. So we're shaping worldview of speakers now. In the context of language systems, linguistic determinism implies that the structure, the grammar, and the lexicon of language play a crucial role in shaping the thoughts, the perceptions and behaviors of its speaker. Yeah

Some people will say jail or prison is about retribution versus what's the word I want? I'm drawing a blank because often you'll hear people talk about prison as more of a positive thing. But really, it seems to be, it's more punitive, it's more about retribution than it is within culture. There seems to be ideas of punishment, but not real language or ideas around how does one redeem themselves?
