Is our imagination limited to shuffling building blocks?

Is something imagined merely a composite? Or is it possible to imagine something that is different or new

Or does it mean more metaphysically, that if it exists in my brain, my brain counts as the fabric of the universe and therefore it exists already? Oh, boy. Let's keep talking, though. That's what I said in the version that got deleted somehow. This is just so fascinating and so fun to stretch your brain and try to understand this stuff. So thank you for posing the question. I love this branch of philosophy, and I would love to keep talking about it

@ZLisbon Best way to spend a Friday night (or any other day/time)! Thank you!

I think what's limiting is the way we go about shuffling the data and reweaving it into an imagined thing. Because as soon as we decide we want to imagine, let's say an alien. Well, then that starts us down a particular funnel. And then as soon as we start asking questions about what that alien is like, how does it perceive the world? How does it communicate? How is it mobile? Is it mobile?
