What does this parable mean?

We must remember, said Jacob, the only difference between a house and a coffin is a door. Okay. I thought I was going somewhere very different than I'm suddenly very confused, because when I originally read this moments earlier, I interpret this not to be the difference of a door, but the difference of the house having a window and the coffin. Not having a window, I e we can enter the house, we can enter the coffin

I THOUGHT I got it, and then... I didn't. 🀣🀣🀣 β€’ Jacob the Baker by Noah benShea β€’ #AmReading #parable #SoConfused

But anyways, I just thought sleep and your thoughts perish that a coffin would be like the last door you go through and there would be no window to look beyond yourself because that would be the last door and window event of your life. I'm not sure otherwise. I was thinking a coffin doesn't have door handles to come in and out. So again maybe going towards that with no windows them. So I'm just curious too. Very interesting though

I think you did it. I think I was overthinking it. I was thinking all of the different components together would have some sort of understanding or theme or explanation or something. And maybe it was just a matter of like it's a story where Jacob is responding in the moment to that instant. Right? So the first question is, any suggestions for building his house? And he's like, yes, a window and a door. And it's almost like, okay, that is done

What a fascinating parable that you've shared with us. When I listen to this and I think of the baker's last words, which were if you have neither a window nor a door, you have a coffin. I was reminded of vic to people in Victorian times that had a tremendous fear of being buried alive. So much so that they would, if they were wealthy enough, put together elaborate bell systems that they could ring if they were buried before their time

There's a lot of connotations that come with that word and that idea, and I don't hold them to be true about the way my brain operates, but again, that will be another conversation for another day. Thank you so much. You have no idea. Thank you
