Huberman: Choosing to ignore one's character, says a lot about what we DO value.

And is potentially a dark triad and reframes science and facts, et cetera, for it to be more accessible, why in the world should we believe he's not lying to us, that he's reframing something in a way that's even accurate, that he's giving us information, advice that is helpful, and not exploiting us in some way for his own personal benefit, at the very least, this should serve as a warning to be very cautious about what he's putting out there and how much we take that on, on

But I think if you really, you know, pass the salaciousness of, like, five different girlfriends at the same time, if you look at all the other things, then kind of, it feels like a troubling portrayal that people should think about. But thank you for talking about it

Like, if he was a relationship guy, like, if he was going around giving advice about relationships, that'd be a totally different thing, because I'm not going to listen. Get relationship advice from someone who cheats on his, you know, significant other. That's not the kind of relationship I would want to have, but for the things that he talks about, like human optimization. And as long as there's

@GlennPriceMann

But to me, the things that I understand that he seems to be talking about are not simply, you know, don't smoke and I'll smoke. You know, it's these other more subtle, insidious aspects of one's character that can influence the way that they interact with people individually, let alone collectively. And that are really important, at least to be cautious about. Right
@SeekingPlumb

@MK1981

Depends on the kind of art, depends on how it does or does not benefit the artist, etcetera, with respect to, you know, his relationship stuff. Yeah, I mean, it's really immaterial with respect to someone's occupation or what they're doing. But to me, it wasn't about the relationships

And I laugh because sometimes when my stuff is posted for the week, like the stuff I'm posting this week and the content of this week, sometimes I go through stuff in this week that I'm like, I need to watch my own content because this was timely. Like, oh, my God, I needed this message myself. And I recorded this two weeks ago or last week or whenever. So we are human and it doesn't negate our purpose
@SeekingPlumb

@Her_Sisu

And that's fair. I can understand, it's a long article, and I can also understand the perspective you've taken, having stopped where you did. Obviously, I have a different take on this. I think there was more there more nuance and complexity and pieces of the puzzle that begin to fit together as the rest of the article takes shape. I'm not trying to paint this man with a broad stroke of one, quote, unquote one thing, and him supposedly being a villain

And just, like, reading from the, quote, unquote, personal accounts that people were putting up about him, what I'm getting from him is that he sounds very neurodivergent and very anxiety ridden when it comes to social situations, because some of the things that people were pointing out that he did, like canceling plans a day before, even though you made plans far in advance
@SeekingPlumb

@MK1981

And that really skews things, because a lot of the times, neurodivergent people are very much about justice and about the benefit of humans and doing good, these sorts of things. And so to come in contact with neurodivergent people who aren't like that is extremely unsettling, at least for me. And so because I have come in contact with them sometimes for extended periods of time, I know it's possible that a personality disorder and a neurodivergence can coexist in the same person

So I came about this while browsing other things, and I hope you don't mind me jumping in, but I think that the part that stuck out the most to me about what everyone is saying is that we can't necessarily take human flaws and cancel a person out because of those human flaws. And to that I would. I would agree. Yes, there are certain things that people do that are mistakes, that are things that maybe they wish that they weren't participating in at the time

I would say the answer is no. Regardless of what sort of thing that someone's doing, if they become a public figure because of this thing that they're doing, let's say, excuse me, let's say that Bill Nye is found out to be this terrible person. Do we support him when his audience could be the victims?

And when I look at today, there are so many ways that some of these thoughts and intentions are set aside, whether it's because, you know, someone wants to have the next viral video or become the next viral account, or it's almost even. Sometimes the information people offer can be sometimes superficial, because they're not really concerned about investing in the depth of and the accuracy of the information, just sort of a superficial thing, and somehow being a resource of many types of information
