Need to vent

article image placeholderUploaded by @Ronisha
Hey. So I just wanted to vent a little. What do you do when you're good at what you do? Like, you're good at your job, right? But you've seen a lot of turnover. I've been at my job five years. The turnover rate is high. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do, but this is not what I want to do forever

What I will say is being able to say that you love your job is major because a lot of people cannot say that. And this is coming from my knowledge of like, being a supervisor. And also I did case management at one point where I was helping people get jobs and they couldn't even decide what they wanted to do, let alone care enough to choose something that they like to do. They just wanted to check

So instead of me getting all worked up about what they're doing over there and what they're not doing, I'm just going to continue to do what I can do over here. There's no sense to me getting worked up and frustrated. I do talk about my concerns and frustrations in the meeting. Have a team every Tuesday, 830, at least 1030 to 930. Stuff don't change, but I'm not going to keep making myself upset about it and stuff like that

You pretty much run stuff yourself, which lets you know if you really needed to. And especially since you can do all the other things as well, you can run your own business one day in case this does fall off track or whatever. But yeah, I say just take a step back and just watch and observe and see how things go and just go with the flow. Because stressing yourself out over a job is never good. And at the end of the day, you got this

And then when I moved up here, I did DSW. I did Bath and Bodyworks. I was the manager, the key holder there. And then I was working back to Bodyworks. And this job I'm at now, I was working both jobs. But I'm like, okay, this job eventually is paying me more. So I left DSW and I was here at this job full time. Don't get me wrong. I love the benefits. I love everything

Now you just need to detach and focus on what you can do pertaining to what you do in the boutique and not worry about whatever else is going on in other areas of the company. You focus on your niche. I would also, if I were you, find an online program in Human Resources while you're focusing on what you love about the job and your particular niche. I would also focus on doing those things for self because you're already doing the job

Thank you so much. Hearing those words just made me want to cry. Yes, I'm a cancer. I'm an emotional brat. But everything you said to me is very true. I need to stop focusing on things that I can't control, about what I do have control over, and that's what's going on at the boutique. And I am in school still. I'm going to school for my associate degree in community and Human Servicescriminaljustice, and I need 36 more credits

I love it because you get the experience and you get to see from the inside how things work and what things you do and don't want to implement into your own business. If you do, open up your own physical store, wherever. But I also hate it because I don't like people telling me what to do. I'm a good employee. No, I'm a good worker, but I'm a bad employee because I like to do stuff my way

My suggestion would be until you get something that's much better than what you have now, just keep doing. Just keep being a great worker and keep doing what you're doing. I wouldn't let it get to you, because if that happens, then you may end up reacting, and you want to be proactive, not reactive. If you're reactive and you do it verbally, that could end up being used against you. So you don't want to do that. So it's tough
