The Need For More Platonic Friendships in Entertainment

But then the two of them were like, nah, never mind. Not into it at all. And then that was the end of that. I just feel like we need to have more platonic friendships, especially in more young adult stuff, because I feel like if you don't have that, you're sending out the message to teenagers that guys and girls cannot just be friends

Love triangles, YA films and the podcast era.

So this is a very, very interesting topic because this is something that I noticed for quite some time in a lot of different films. I felt like the love triangle has been a part of cinema for I feel like as long as cinema has been a thing, the first time I was ever exposed to the idea of the love triangle is in

My reply and thank you for following me!

Whereas I feel like the movies, there are all these scenes where I feel like the director from each one, they really romanticize, the two of them, in certain shots that they do of them both because I feel like they don't even know how to show a platonic friendship between the two. That's why I felt like for the movies, I was honestly shipping Harry with hermione because I felt like the way that their scenes were shot, it looked very romantic to me

@ReelTalker Soap Opera Culture, and Inherit romance

Smallville is an example of that because there was always these, like I'll give you an example that I think is even relative to what you talked about where you said how I think it was on One Tree Hill where the couple kind of went out with each other. They did the smooch and they were know, this isn't really for us

Smallville!!!!

But yeah, no, it's really sad how that culture is and hopefully that will change one time where where a platonic friendship could just be shown and that there is no hope whatsoever in these two being together like that and that it shouldn't take one of them being gay in order for that to happen. That a guy and a girl, both incredibly attractive, can be just friends and nothing more, nothing less. But yes. Thank you again for your reply. Really appreciate it

Projecting, Wolf of Wall Street, fantasy romance

Yeah, smallville was really interesting with how it handled its romances because the backwards and forth between this interpretation of Clark Kent, the way the show has aged for me, now that I'm older and it's been off the air for a while, it's a wonderful piece of nostalgia. And I really like how it was read, and especially considering the fact that this is his teenage years

I agree #platonicfriendships

An example that I'll use is one of the more popular young adult shows, The Samurai Turned Pretty where the main character Belly, starts off by liking Conrad then ends up liking Jeremiah but also at some point has a boyfriend that's named Cameron. And so at this point, there are three guys that like her and it's just her. But then it tends to get even more complicated and more confusing. And it's a very widely accepted trope that I think is unnecessary
