Hugo hates Harry for some reason he doesn't wish to disclose even to his wife, which makes the Reader's question if the person who married his mother was his father or not. He later finished his school and has to choose whether he will join Oxford or the military during World War II. What I personally liked about the book was how Jeffrey Archer made sure that he told the story from the different point of views of all the seven characters that he had introduced in his book
