Jontay Porter and another betting investigation: this could be a problem

article image placeholderSources: NBA eyes Raptors
It used to be that only the Super bowl games would allow such kind of wagering action. This is a different world. And now you can bet on just about every player and everybody, every player's totals every single night. And that's going to become a policing nightmare, because this guy, as I mentioned, John Tay Porter, only plays 14 minutes per night. He's a role player. He is not a very big player. He's certainly not a superstar like Otani

The only fight that he ever lost in his career was in the Olympics, and he won the fight. If you look, go back and check it out. There's too many guys who win fights and lose. There's too many games that's fixed. There's too many times when, you know, this guy usually will make these layups, and all of a sudden, he can't make layups

There's just all sorts of ways that you can manipulate a game and statistic, and the more betting options you put up there, the more that there's going to be stuff to manipulate

Should players and the league and honestly, the players union all need to consider whether or not that it's worth it, especially those, quote unquote, lower wage guys. Is it worth it to risk their careers over something like this? Just wanted to chime in

And I think that's what we saw in the past in baseball, the fixed World Series of 1919, they weren't making a lot of money. He could probably, shoeless Joe could probably make more money gambling on the outcome than he could actually winning the World Series. So just doing the math there, you start to realize, okay, and assuming everybody's operating with common sense and they don't have any other sort of vice, that's really kind of holding them back
