Where is my Lyft driver going??

article image placeholderUploaded by @Phil
Do you ever watch your Uber or Lyft driver go round in circles and go in the wrong direction? I had a driver last week go from being two minutes away to 15 minutes away by taking a wrong turn and never coming around around and taking a U turn. It's just funny that we have all these technology. I can see him and screaming at him on what not to do. Just wondering if I'm the only one who sits there and watches them because and pick me up

Watching the route taken to pick me up can be maddening and confusing πŸ€ͺπŸ˜‚

@Phil

I'm sure you can call him in the app to just like ask him what he's doing

Too real

So this really cracks me up because I have a very particular relationship with rideshare and situations like this because in grad school, one of my my side hustles so that I could still have a car and save up and things for my life. Dreams was doing rideshare, which was a really interesting experience for me

Nick, you know, I have called in the past, and it just has always seemed to add to the confusion, and then they end up canceling because I think out of embarrassment where, you know, it's like one of those things where it's like, do I call called them out that they just took wrong turn after wrong turn, after wrong turn, I will text or I'll call and say, Is everything okay just to make sure that they know that they have accepted my ride, because when I'm watching, I'm not convinced of it

@Phil The deets!

But sometimes I got called pretty far out and the navigation systems that both are attached to because it's going through the app itself. You're not just using your Google Maps on your phone. It's coming through Lift and the Uber apps. And I have to say, in my experience, the Uber navigation was pretty terrible. It was just straight up wrong. Sometimes I would always ask people if something started to feel weird or not right

Veteran Uber driver here

You would have literally 50 or 100 passengers, all standing in a small zone, and they're all waving their phones. And so oftentimes you really can't tell who is Phil? Among those 50 people and airport security can be pretty rough on drivers like they don't let you stop. They don't let you double park or anything. And so sometimes literally, if you drive 100ft beyond where the passenger is, you can't back up. And so you're forced to circle around again

This is really funny. I do the exact same thing. And I always wonder if, like the driver when they make the wrong turn, if they're thinking about how the the person that they're picking up is watching them or if they don't think that we do that. And I think it's funny when I get in the Cara and I've just been watching them get to me this whole time and kind of struggle willing to get to me
