Need not met and now in self-protective mode

I've always been interested to hear what they have going on, but I made a request for when I'm sharing something and they dismissed that piece and proceeded to say that they're not going to share anything with me anymore and that was the end of the conversation and to basically talk to my therapist about it and to pray about it, not them

When you share good news with someone and they respond by interjecting w/something about them before making space for you…

I have situations like that with my brother where when he sees me, the very first things he says, hey man, looks like you're gaining weight. You're still at the same job, you driving yet that's the first things he says. That's the first things he says when he sees me. And it got to a point where I had to kind of have a yelling match with him about my standing in life and his standing in life

Often, if they do challenge it. They don't get any headway that's going to be beneficial for their wellbeing, I don't judge it, but that's what they do. They just assume the things that parents do that get on the nerves, whatever the things are, even if they really are like, I don't want this to continue anymore like this, I need a change
