Barber Talk

article image placeholderUploaded by @onwardandupward
I go in there to get my hair cut, and he does the job well, and I have what I get, and I go. But the bonus and the gift that I've been able to receive is that we're able to talk and have some good rapport, and we are able to talk from time to time just about anything

I'm like, It's not exactly bald, sir, but I know you're going to cut it like that. I'll be back to my guy next week. And that's how it happens. But it takes time, and it's definitely a relationship

Good morning, Dewuan. Yeah, that sounds like a lot that you might be able to get from that barber, even though you haven't seen him since, like, the summer or wait, no, I'm not sure, actually, if we're talking about the same barber, but the one who, you know, would talk to you about, I guess, losing different barbers and just talking about current events and, like, COVID

Hey, Jail, thanks for jumping in on my swell conversation. And thanks for, you know, sharing about your journey with Alopecia and Baldness. Did not know that. Just thought you were rockin'you know, short hair and looked great. But I kind of want to be offended at the fact that you didn't know I was black. Like, have you not looked at any of my other pictures on my different swells? Cricket, cricket, cricket. No. But, yeah, I'm black

You definitely that have been one of the black people that can easily pass and some of them actually did and were able to help slaves that were underground and escaping from wherever they were escaping from. So our escaping tuition a bit interesting how just so diverse and complex we are as people. Which is why, like you said, it's so much more important for us to really peel back those layers and find out what's us

I guess it just kind of comes to each person's eyes and who they see and who they come and counter with or don't come and counter with, because not everybody has a lot of exposure as far as diversity and seeing different shades and the diaspora of blackness. But that is no question of mine. Made a mistake. I'm not defending my blackness. Been there, done that, bought the T shirt
