Artistic Boundaries: The Controversy of a Teacher’s Dual Identity.

You can see it in her using her platform as a rapper to express herself beyond the confines of the classroom. So already you can see she's a creative person and she teaches history. So that's very interesting. She's very creative. I bet you the students love her. You can tell she was voted teacher of the year or something like this. So you can tell that she is bringing a different and a diverse kind of passion, but the parent did not like it

It's limiting people in how they can make money, how they can express themselves. I feel like there's too much. I can't even believe that they fired her for this. I can't believe they even asked her to erase her content because of one complaining parent

@SeekingPlumb Beggary enslaves the human spirit.

They will rebel on those parents and they will start to have their own conversation already. I believe. I have teenagers in the house birthday weekend. And I believe that they are. They're there. They're seeing that we as parents and humans are so fucking flawed. They look at us with pity at times when they hear our politics and where we're looking to take the world that already belongs to them irresponsible steward of the future. Stop. This one was very sad to me

Hello. Thank you for sharing and starting this topic. I saw this online on Twitter slash X and people talking about it and it's a very interesting case. And I mean, does a school or school board have a right to say, we want our educators to present a certain way even when they're not in the classroom? I think they do, but where is that line? Who draws that line?

@GlennPriceMann Aligning code of Conduct - is this a missed opportunity?

However, if you do go to another environment and maybe this is it, another school picks her up and harness this and utilize that in Michigan. There's tremendous budget shortfalls in the Ann Harbor, Michigan school system right now due to all these increases in their. You know, she's a great revenue source. I'm always looking for the light around the situation, and I see her as being a positive addition to education and not someone who should be vilified for what she's doing

It's always bothered me when people are judged by what they do outside of work. It has nothing to do with her job as a teacher, so I don't see how or why that should affect her ability to teach. What she does outside of her job should be her own business and not have anything to do with her job

Hi Jodi, I agree with you but here are some questions I've been thinking about is what if she was an opera singer? Would they be celebrating her? So maybe we're looking at the choice of moonlighting. So I really think it's about the content. Rap music, that genre of music is what I'm thinking is the issue here and one's perception of that music. Yeah, that's kind of an interesting one
