The Bruce Lee and Quentin Tarantino controversy on the scene where Cliff Booth beats Lee in "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood"

article image placeholderCliff Booth
What are you guys thoughts? Do you think that Tarantino was wrong along and went overboard in having Cliff Booth beat Bruce Lee in the best out of three combat challenge on the Hollywood set in that iconic scene. What are your thoughts

Talking the infamous scene where Booth throws Lee into the car. Was Tarantino way out of line?

I mean, we heard that he was like, the most badass song b**** you'd ever live, but you ever see him beat anybody down? I didn't. I saw him in The Chinese Connection and Fist of Fury. I saw him as Cato in The Green Hornet, right. But I never saw him beat anybody down. And what else did we learn about karate Masters when they got to the UFC?

If I remember correctly, I'm not a huge Bruce Lee fan, but I know a little bit about him because all these different fighting styles have different ways of approach, attack, counter attack, all that stuff. It's all taught differently. So right there it goes to show you with these martial arts

We all know the legend of Bruce Lee. We all know he was an actor. He was the face of martial arts. He created Jeet Kuno. Was he a fantastic fighter? Who knows, guy was an actor. My point to the post was, do you think Quentin Tarantino acted accordingly? And do you think people over exaggerated the scene in a film? Fictional film? That's what my post was about. However, some good points were made

And not even just underlings to other fellow celebrities. Jerry Lewis was an incredibly arrogant, pretentious entitled a****** of a human being. And so if someone wanted to cast a Jerry Lewis as a sub character in a story and have an interaction with people in the way that he had them, if they wanted to focus on that aspect of who that person was, so be it. That's how they chose to tell that story and utilize that persona in their story

Who the h*** knows? But I will end it with this. And this may be going off the topic, but I worked at Tribeca Film Festival for four years and I've met many celebrities. Most of them have been nice. I will give you two examples

People love to complain

Well, not you guys, but people are getting mad about something that's being done not only in a Tarantino film, but in one that is very much so a revision of history. The whole movie is a revision of history. A lot of his previous films, at least the ones in the 2010s were revisionist history. Look at inglorious bastards. Look at Django Unchained. I just think that to get angry about this is silly
