But as I was watching it, I got to thinking that with all of the dark tropes in it in a satirical view and the free use of words with very dark tones

Revisiting the cult classic film "Heathers" Do you think this film could possibly be made and released today in 2021

Yes! But ...

Oh, wow. You have really made me want to rewatch this now. I have not seen this since I was much younger, so there's a lot I don't remember about it, but I do remember just the plot and also thinking it was really dark, but also funny. And when I think about could it be remade today? The first thing I thought was, yes, I almost feel like it's a darker, mean girls. And I definitely think it could be remade today

How have I missed this...

But for those of you listening that have not seen it, it's Brendan Fraser, Steve Buschemi, Adam Sandler. They hijack a radio station in order to get one of their demo tapes played. They're like this grungy 80s 90s style, like thrash metal band, absolutely fun ride. And so I'm sort of surprised I've never heard or scene of this Heather's film before. I'm definitely going to watch it revisit your swell here and then contribute my thoughts

Michael Lehrman does some really good satirical dark comedies, and I read an article with him and he said that it was an anti John Hughes film. And when you watch the movie, you'll see what he means. It absolutely is. But I recommend watching it. Yeah. And if you could come back to this and give your feedback, I welcome it. And I'm looking forward to hearing it. And thanks for listening

I brought you back a little bit humboy. Thank you for listening to my swell cast. I appreciate it. Go back and watch it. I did the other night and it was a fun ride back to a time that no longer exists in America. It's so far from where we are now. There's a lot of reasons why I think that this film would have trouble being made today in resonate with the youth and millennials today because they're so far PC

No way. I think you're dead on in that. And I think mostly it would be the shootings. And I just think that conjures up so much negativity and just so much memories that people don't want to remember, like, Columbine Sandy Hook from that aspect. I just think that there's not a tolerance for anything that would seemingly glorify it, even though I'm not saying that it was glorifying it by any means

Yeah, I was in 8th grade, so I'm a few years younger than you. I was just going into high school when this film was made the summer when this film was out, I was getting ready to go into high school. So I remember watching it and not quite fully getting it, but I knew it was an Fdup film, but I liked it. I kind of liked the JD character that Christian Slater played, and then I revisited it years later
