OTT platforms can’t get enough of Indian weddings

article image placeholderNetflix to celebrate Indian weddings with The Big Day
What's clear is that the wedding industry in India is thriving despite the lockdown OTT OTT platforms cant get enough of them. My bet is that we're going to see a few more shows based on similar themes in the near future

Oh no, not another big fat Indian wedding showcar. And if Indian Matchmaking wasn't bad enough, now we have to deal with a slew of more such shows. Oh, my God. But I know opinions are divided on the show Indian Matchmaking. I personally didn't care for it because I felt the show lost over India's marriage industry, ignoring the dark bits. Like, for instance, by just focusing on the rich and the elite families

Hey, Ramya, you're totally right. You know, I think the problem is that people seem to gravitate towards pomp and ostentatiousness more than other ongoing, prevalent truths in the Indian marriage industry at large. It's all an elite driven field, at least in terms of the stories and movies that are projected. But I'm hoping that that trend changes because viewers are now demanding more realistic content and not just elite driven stuff, at least globally

Or wedding planners, for that matter, I wouldn't give the credit to couples as much as for the wedding planners. I'm really amazed at the way this industry has grown and the kind of creative expression that it has unleashed. And why not? This is an industry that's growing and it's supporting so many people. And when you have billionaires to break out the Mula, I'm happy that there is a whole bunch of people out there who are making a living out of it
