Why?

Okay, I got a question. And this is admittedly, it's a bit of a morbid question, but it is something that's been on my mind a lot. And I wanted to get everybody's take on it. Why is it that we, as human beings, fight so hard to? Why, why, why, why hold on to things we're keep?

Why hold on to things we're not meant to keep

Human beings are habit animals!...

Yes, we deserve. We'd like to deserve heaven in future life. At least some religions say there is paradise and you can deserve it anyway. Yes, we will lose everything and we can't accumulate. So everything seems meaningless except doing the best we can in this lower life, in this present life with the good and the bad sides of it. Yes. Can we live without goals? Can we live without trying to reach something? Perhaps we can less desperately try and reach things

I suspect that it's a condition of our survival instinct, which is pretty much hardwired in the human brain to survive at all costs. That's my short answer, my short guess. But personally, ascribe to the ancient Stoic Philosopher's phrase memento Mori, which means, remember that you're going to die. I find that it's good to reflect on the fact that life will one day end, and that forces me to live my life accordingly and not sweat the small stuff

And so I find myself often remembering when I'm pondering death, that energy can never be created nor destroyed. Right. As Einstein taught us. And that brings me so much comfort. I haven't feared death for I want to say at least five years before that it was something I was terrified of. So I know what it's like
