Economy is forcing elderly people into the "van life"

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
Most of them are looking for jobs such as, you know, babysitting jobs that are. That require them to do light work and work for, you know, just a few hours a day versus, you know, a job in the workforce that would require them to work 40 hours a week, maybe even standing on their feet. And so our elderly are having a hard time finding jobs. They're having a hard time being able to afford the maintenance on their vehicles

He showed me some pictures of it. I could not believe the comforts. That's all the comforts of home, right in that. That truck. I mean, the guy had what to, like, a living room and a half a dining area, two bedrooms in this place, a bathroom, a nice kitchen area, a full size refrigerator, microwave. Yeah, I got a. What are those, the air fryers in there?

It's not to their best interest financially either, or people younger than us. And if, you know, we could rethink any ways that could make could create a good quality of life and some stability for a potentially financially high risk population because they're just going to get older as people are living longer with and on less in an increasingly expensive, you know, economy

I mean, but a motorhome, you've got all of the engine you need to take care of and upkeep on the vehicle and maintenance on the tires of things. And then in the winter time, you need to get some sort of a skirt that goes around your trailer to keep the heat in. You have to have the undercarriage covered so that it doesn't get rocks and stuff coming up and hitting it and tearing the bottom apart. It's very expensive
