Thecla in Art

That's so inspiring to me because as a young woman, years ago, decades ago, at this point, I really wish that I had these stories that I had had these women who were so independent and so determined to be their own person within the faith. Yes. Thekla essentially turns to Christianity because of Paul. Right. She wants to follow him. She wants to learn from him

First of all, this is a beautiful, beautiful piece. And, yeah, you have me thinking about stuff that I haven't thought about in a long time or kind of before. But I think maybe. I mean, I grew up, my mom was very, like, anti church, at least, but. But because of that, we did. I don't know, religion wasn't huge in my family, but. But because of this kind of

Because she paved her own path, because she remained a virgin her entire life, if those gender role ways of countering the cultural expectations. I wonder if that's why it was kept out. I mean, I have no idea, but yeah. So in this image, the second woman, would Thekla be the one, the one that her top half is revealed and the one behind her, is that her mother also? You are extremely talented. Just beautiful. This is beautiful

And I, you know, Christianity would be vastly different and Judaism would be vastly different if they would have had powerful, opinionated, strong women in the, in the Bible. You know, it's interesting where the abrahamic faiths are almost, at least in the beginning, were almost completely dominated by men. Spirituality was kind of the realm of men. And, you know, the congregation or the, or the church waited for these pronouncements from men

I think about, as I said, her more human aspect of what anxiety she had and what she went through, because sure, she could lie and say that her husband died or whatever, but I just imagine how difficult that would be to be a single mother in that area and raising this boy that would become such an important figure, but not necessarily one in a good way. My heart went out to her. It just totally got wrenched into pieces rereading her story
