You. Hello everyone. This is Gopalakrishnan and once again I welcome you all back to my swell cast. And I know it has been some time since we all met and this time I am coming back with the third part of my series on how Indian TV serials are promoting regressive practices. We already discussed the gender stereotyping and domestic violence in first two parts. Now in this third part we are going to talk about how Indian TV serials are indirectly promoting dynasty by showing just the stories of some business families

I do agree that instead of showing everything negativities, they could have shown some positive effect as well as I have hardly come across such positive messages of any joint family concept where I believe that relations are not meant to satisfy each other's egos, but is all about turning beneficial and turning saviors at the time of real crisis

A lot who are watching these ITV serials regularly for the past 20 years. Now coming to the next important question, another aspect I feel is that family planning is not talked in any of these ITV shows. Do you believe that it is indirectly, again promoting a Bahu is brought to give a hair to the dynasty, like the concept of you marry and within a year you give the baby most probably a male hair

A man cannot think okay, he just donated his sperm and everything is over. Now it's up to her. She will give birth and she will look after herself and a baby. The entire responsibility is upon herself. No, a man is also equally affected by this pregnancy and should be. Which is why today many real life couples come up with the phrase that we are pregnant

And even there were a lot of youngsters who supported the character Saroj, who, despite being the woman she was considering Sauri to be, impure. A woman who was fighting every single moment to keep the breath of her baby, her fragile, her vulnerable baby's breath intact. And in order to make sure the baby survives, nobody cared about that battle. And I was really glad that the character Kana only understood her pain and he never judged her. So where are we heading towards?

Or I like to watch mostly earlier shows like ondudarshan like shows like Krishna which was based on Bride and Prejudice book. Then Kavaljitzar's Show for man or Family Number One which we used to come on Sony or Saravi versus Saravi which was a good show, which had good comedy rather than putting anybody down, making fun of us, anyone and saying that that is comedy. So thank you for this

Now that marry second time is replaced with sarodasi and one night stand and all those stupid things in ITV so that somehow the parivar can get a hair because their bahu cannot give the hair. And this Bahu, if she knows that well, these all things have happened. Her husband is having an EMA or whatever nonsense. She just tolerate it because ultimately the parivar has got a baby. And then she even tolerates the south end because the baby belongs to the parivar

You. Firstly, I would say I would like to express that marriage is not any institution or any instrument for only childbearing or for expanding the family that somehow in order to continue the lineage, it is not something or your marriage is not in order to carry forward the lineage. It should be first of all, it should be based on love and acceptance of each other. It is all about having a companion to seek true shelter and solace in him or her

There were so many such bold concepts. But now, in order to satisfy the rural viewers, do you feel the urban concepts are getting completely ignored? The concept of nuclear family, the concept of a boy taking care of his soral, the concept of adoption, the concept of living together and mostly like the career aspirations of both the partners and how they manage with their work life balance

You must be knowing the name of that show which now I don't want to get into that topic right now, but all I would like to say a show like now exceptional shows like Balika Vadu dosti Anoki Patiala babes were just masterpieces in that case, where they maintained that decency in which the characters had maintained their own decency and protocols, which these shows never revolved around kitchen politics or family drama, but also ensured to bring out their professional lives onto their screens with giving full justice to it

And if that TV shows only focuses on toxicity and social able practices then what else to watch? Don't you think we need any relaxation? Or we need any time pass of our own where we can temporarily seek relief from the daily stress from our work stress and all where if at all people are working. Or for example if you take the case of a student then even that student also is under the constant stress where she or he is having so much pressure of handling their academic schedules

It suits to keep patriarchy alive while both the cinema as well as the OTT is trying to break the norms. And yes, they have to be reined in because it is harming harms children. So I have to ask what harms children? Movie. Movie. You have to go to the theater to see it or you should have a mobile in your hand with some subscription to watch it. But TV, your grandfather, your grandmother put it and everyone in the house knows it
