Books that stay with you :)

Hello from a rainy, wet day in Mumbai. It is one of those days when you simply curl up with an old memory. And for me it is a book which I read when I was just 13 years old, and it's amazing how we keep coming back to certain books in our lives. The book was Mr. God, this is Anna. I read it as a 13 year old, like I said. And it is a book which has really stayed with me through the years

portrait of an artist as a young man

So it's almost the release of knowing that he became an artist, which is a person that's never fully formed, because if you're fully formed, you can't create because you're not impacted and you're not inspired and you're not fully transformed by an experience, because if you're fully formed, you're stuck in a way so that there's lots of themes here

And these are all the people who were lending their voices and meaning to society. So though Kamu and Saturday split up because of political differences, I continued following both of them quite obviously, and through their bitter feuds and reading really how two people who were so much into each other had suddenly just split apart and Tolstoy foster all of these accomplished, revered literary names who dominated our thinking in those times

Memories from Matilda

This quote is what gave me the courage as a 14 year old to convince my family to let me go to the US and study all on my own back in 1997. And the second, if you're good, life is good. I can't think of a more simplistic formula for happiness. Thank you so much for this amazing post that helped me revisit some amazing character defining memories

More books that stay with you

Hey, Jazz, I didn't know you were a Role Dal fan, and that's the wonderful thing about this platform. You discover new things about everybody, though. You've met them for the longest time, you know. And Dal to me, was an absolutely enthralling writer. And what is amazing about him is the influence he's had over generations. I used to read to my kids
