THE GEOPOLITICS OF INDONESIA ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ

article image placeholderThe Geopolitics of Indonesia.
Indonesia is quickly dictating policy throughout Southeast Asia. But the way I look at Indonesia and the way that a lot of analysts are starting to look at Indonesia is the same way we used to look at Europe in 1946. Europe in 1946 is a really interesting place. World War Two had just ended and the Cold War was starting. We knew where most of those countries would sit. We knew that, for instance, Poland and Hungary and Romania and those kind of guys would side with the Soviet Union

Thank you!

Hey, Michael, thank you so much for sharing this. I loved listening to this because as you were talking, I don't know if you know that board game risk, but I felt like I was watching Pieces move on the map, on risk, and it was pretty cool. Also, listening to this is just a reminder to me that I know absolutely nothing when it comes to policy, us policy that is in the relationship with Indonesia. So I really want to listen to this episode

Huge fan of Risk here :-)

I really do love the follow up questions and following up with people on on what they might have questions on an already long episode. See what you think and I'd love to chat with you more. Thanks so much. Bye

@MichaelHilliard Great episode

Hey, Michael. So I had a chance to listen to this episode over the weekend, and it was great. Thank you for all the work you put into it. I've learned so much more about Indonesia than I ever, ever knew, and I particularly love the way in which you were able to give such a complex and holistic history of Indonesia in such a short period of time, while also going deeply into more specifics with the experts you had on it was awesome

@bowie sorry for the delay

So quite often I have a short list of five to ten guests I think would be suitable for the episode. Usually people have read their papers and then I'll Whittle it down to sort of five. And then I'll contact those five and then all three say yes. Then that's great. If one of them says no, you can't do for time reasons or whatever, then we contact someone else on that five
