Advice on motivation?

article image placeholderUploaded by @livblair
There's so many talented people on campus, and like, a lot of people come here for the BFA program that they have. So it's just so competitive trying to get roles here, and it's such a great atmosphere, and they make it really welcoming so anyone can come and try out. But it's really hard because you're going to be competing with a lot of talented people. So the likelihood of actually getting to be able to participate in stuff is kind of high

Eventually there'll be a person or an opportunity that's going to make you get to where you want to be and where you need to be. And I feel like that is what needs to keep people going. Like, okay, you failed an exam and I don't know, and you just got to keep yourself going. You know what I mean? Put more effort into it or keep trying or try new ways and going about it

this is bringing me back 😬

Oh, this brings me back to my College days. I went to a Theatre powerhouse and did not major in theater, but I loved it. So I wanted to go out and audition. And I was auditioning against people who had been been doing their theater their entire lives, who wanted to go to Northwestern because it was conservatory and they were headed for Broadway or Hollywood. I just like doing theater. And I was going to show up

It's really great that there's other people that are successful in doing great things, but you can only do great things eight things if you put yourself out there as well. And who knows, maybe if you do, some other person will be looking at you like, wow, I wish I was like her. So that's my advice. Hope you use it. Bye

Grace, thank you so much for this. This is actually so motivational, especially. People can have the same talent and choose one of them. That happens so much. I like I think Cindy said it's like you got to make a space for yourself that many people would be so talented with just the same skill sets. You got to find something that's unique about you that you can offer. Yeah. Thank you for sharing. Actually, very motivational to listen to, not

@Tim

Like, no, you may not, but that's so cool because you have the opportunity to work with amazing film students. So, yeah, what do you say? Especially just finding your niche. Like, at UCSB, they have this event where you create, like a creative writing piece and then you perform it and then you train under faculty that are like part of the BFA program and not a lot of people do it because it's like they're already in the program

It's like you can't do this. You have to see yourself and look at yourself and all the growth you have done and have already done and how this next step or next opportunity or mental blockade that's blocking you is just like another bridge to cross like you have crossed successfully bridges like all your life. So it makes me realize just how minuscule anxieties and mental blocks or not having the confidence or motivation are in the big scheme of things. So everything just gets so magnified in the present

Keep believing in yourself!

Hey Liv, I think as College students and young people like trying to figure out what we want to do in this world, we can all kind of relate to this in some aspect
