Do you care if social media judges you?

article image placeholderUploaded by @lissahoop
The fact is, I have done that over certain issues. I won't comment on certain posts I will scroll on by. I have unfriended people. I have to decide about each controversial post or picture or thought. Is this a Hill to die on? I keep my private social media circle small on purpose. I have public social media for writing, but rarely post stories or articles on private accounts

And I have stuff like that with my kids. And it's not even that I think people will judge me. It's just I want to keep some stuff to myself. So there are moments where I'm taking pictures of my kids and we're out. We're having fun. And I just send it to their mom instead or my friend instead. That has nothing to do with any social media hub and I'm fine with that

Private vs public

I think it's part of the judging thing is that it gives people sort of confidence to say what they're thinking in a way they wouldn't do if they were seeing you in public. And then the thing about withholding certain things to be private, not just because you don't care or you care about whether someone judges you, but just that you don't want your whole life to be online, that you want to be circumstanced, and there's a certain Privacy. There's oversharing online

But I feel it's completely on us to decide whether to show a certain part of our life or not. And I feel sharing a few ups and downs is kind of okay, because that helps and inspires people, too. But there's a certain line, and that's fine. I mean, it's not about people judging you. There are times where you think twice, but I have been a person who has never thought twice before putting any post. I mean, about people judging me

Thank you for replying. You make a good point about celebrities and how you know, in a way they have to have a really thick skin. But also it's interesting because part of their brand sometimes is curating what they will and won't show, and that part of their Fame is us feeling connected to them through their sharing certain things, having a sense of entry emacy. So yes, that's a good point about celebrities having to deal with it on a regular basis
