I need your help?! Do you read books? If so, why and if not, why?

If people have come right out and said they don't read books anymore, I'm curious. Do you read books anymore? And if you do, I'm going to ask specifically, nonfiction books. If you do read nonfiction books, why do you read if you don't read nonfiction books, why do you not read nonfiction books? I'm truly puzzled by this now. My wife and I are both writers and readers and entrepreneurs. And so I'm really puzzled. And I'm confused

Hey, Greg. So my first response was, oh, just listen to my podcast and all your questions are answered there. I mean, seriously. Ha ha. No, just kidding. It's a very, very, very good good question that you ask. It's something that I ponder about as far as reading and things like that. First off, do I read books? Yes, I do. I read physical books. I read books. I do audio books

@bookishpodcast you can’t help someone who won’t help themselves omg

I went to this lady's house and she taught me remedial reading skills. Well, I never looked back after that. And I never saw myself as a writer. But I was an entrepreneur. First, I became a writer because I was journaling. I was so busy in my coaching practice, I was journaling to try to figure out what did I learn? What did I observe with my clients? Then I started putting it online and it became kind of popular

I’d rather Google it or YouTube it. 🤷🏾‍♂️.. 😆😆😆 @LifeOrigami

I probably spent close to $500 on comics, graphic novels and whatnot not to collect, but to read in maybe the past ten years, something like that. So I would rather have an audio books if I had the choice. And if I really had the choice, I'd rather whatever it is, see it online. I'll find it out online. So now I'm not really a big reader but props to those that are. Obviously you're an author

@bookishpodcast @Wuandurful do you kids read, curious @ long term implicati

It's pretty fascinating, but I don't read much fiction, mostly nonfiction. And I still have an Audible account and I probably have about 200 audiobooks. I don't even do those anymore. So I wonder, what about your kids and they're are reading skills. And how do you think in bookish? How do you think reading skills and literacy is obviously huge? The ability to read. I'll do some research. The ability to read. Does it affect our ability to express ourselves?

@Wuandurful, @LifeOrigami

Does reading help your communication? Does it help improve your I don't remember the question, but the answer was yes. I remember listening to it. And I'm going, no, but the answer is definitively. Yes. Reading does help the way you process information. You can, I guess Google it. And all of that reading helps so much like reading also helps with empathy, because it literally creates these. It enhances your mirror neurons in your brain

I'm curious. Greg. Why? Why did you ask about my kids? What do they have to do with me not reading? I just want to make sure I'm clear. So there's no misunderstanding

I read a tone.. via audio. 😆 @bookishpodcast and @LifeOrigami

What's your name, little girl? Do you like to read? What books do you like to read at school? Puppy and baby books. Puppy and baby books. All right, well, there you go. Which one? Yeah. My kids like to read. Here goes the book. Right now. One of them brought home one cool Friend by Tony Bougie. Pictures by David Small. It's one of those Scholastic books. So they're at that stage just starting out there reading Journey

Clarifying @Wuandurful

Hey, Duan, I was just curious. It doesn't have anything to do with you reading at all. It was just like I remembered you talking about your kids and another swell. And I just was curious because all of our kids are adults in their late 20s and 30s. So I'm just curious what the current trend was. Really. It's got nothing to do with whether you read if I set it that way. Oops

@Wuandurful @bookishpodcast great feedbacks!

Thank you for your feedback. My wife wanted me to ask a question of you. Dewan, are your kids reading physical books or electronic books? She's got a children's book that we're just laying out differently again. And then she's working on a second book. It's a book targeted towards Tween girls, younger girls. And then she's working on a book for Tween boys. But she's curious about do you want them to have a physical book or electronic book?

here another data point for you

So if I'm looking for selfhelp or business strategy, I prefer an online course, a podcast or an audiobook or even a video lecture. I think I retain that better, and I feel like the return on investment for the amount of time I spend watching a lecture listening to a podcast. I get the same amount of content or retain the same amount of content as if I had sat down and read a 200 page book

There's certain security in that and being able to dive deep. And like you say, somebody that's written a book, you can dive into their life and you can really acquire consume their experience of life and take that into your own experience. But I really butchered that. Anyways, this is just very interesting to me in terms of our learning preferences, and it's very interesting how merely human your reliance on reading

@MerelyHuman I appreciate your cogent well balanced POV

And in about my mid 30s, I decided I really started to dive deep into personal development and really making sure that every day I was learning something so I can relate to your comment about wanting to learn, having this drive to learn, this thirst to learn, and I want to learn together with people. I suppose that's why I spent over 30 years as a business coach and it's about the learning experience, the experiential side of it, the kinesthetic side of it and the auditory side
