And then there was some flirting, and I set a boundary, and I said, if you're not interested in dating me, you can't flirt with me. And she said, okay, sorry. And then proceeded to flirt. So I guess tonight is when I have to say out loud and take a risk. Is this a date, or are you just looking for friends? And if you're just looking for friends, that's cool. I get it. I have plenty of friends

And I don't want to go into her business too much. But she said a couple of things that more indicated that she said she's not ready for dating and then asked me what I wanted

You. I feel like someone who's not ready can be worked with too. My only other red flag is that she said that I am too young for her. But really, again, I think her intention was to say that she's too old for me. I've been down this road before with an older woman, and I've barely been thinking about how I tend to fix people
Like assuming that she is sincere and when she's saying she thinks you're too young or whether she thinks she's too old. I wonder what that means, though, to her. What does it mean for someone to be too old? Do they think that there's not going to be a meeting of minds or hearts? Do they think the generational differences will somehow cause divide in some way? Or is it about perceptions of other people? And what do those perceptions really mean?

It's taken years to get there. Following my divorce. I've been divorced about ten years now, and I've went on a lot of first dates. And I got involved in another relationship with an older woman who told me the exact same thing. You're too young for me. And I knew in my heart that the too young for me came from past experiences with her ex wife, who was just as young as I was. And it turned out badly
For what it's worth, I didn't find it as rambling. I do have a question, if I may, and feel free to not answer it or anything, but I'm curious. These questions about her statement of being too old. Have you asked any of the questions that you've been personally pondering? Like, have you asked her those questions?

I don't talk to my friends a lot about my relationship I have in the past, and they have all kinds of input and they bring their own hurts and their own interpretations of things.
