#VoiceYourOpinion | Why? Subjects that should absolutely be taught in school!

article image placeholderUploaded by @LadyFi
Do you know how to budget your money? Do you know how to budget at all? Do you have a bank account? Do you have an IRA? Do you have a 401? What are you going to do in the event that something happens and you can't work for a while? Do you have savings? Public speaking, let's go into that, because I was just talking about that. Public speaking. Can you get up and make a speech?

When I was going to school, we didn't have that. We did the regular reading, writing, arithmetic. That's what we did. And throw in a little of physical education there. Every once in a while. When I was in high school, there would be a math textbook that will have a section called life application, but it wasn't a course. So I'm really glad you're talking about this

It. The subjects that should be taught in schools, every last one of them that I see on the picture. Plus the importance of pray. Pray, praying and what? Just basically religion and stuff really mean. Like, we can't walk around blind forever. I'm just saying. I'm just saying it. The importance of after school programs like the boys and girls clubs need to come back all the way. That's just my opinion. Bye

Hey, Erica. Good morning. Thank you so much for listening. I really appreciate it. I had no idea you were doing an article about it. But you know what? We need it. We need people to talk more about it because it is so much going on and then it is so much that is not going on. And we need to really talk about it, especially toward the education of our children, our nieces, our nephews, grandchildren, children, whatever

But I feel like a great deal of children felt that way, and I just don't see that happening anymore. So you are absolutely right. I would love to bring that back. I really would. Because then children could feel like they have something to do. Plus parents the ability to not have to essentially entertain their child or watch their child hold up in the room all day because they have nothing else to do. So thank you so much for this

#TheSeriousnessofParenting

But once again, I think that parents have a huge role because in the life of a parent, we have the biggest influence of that child because we have reared them from the time they came out the womb up until the age where they. High school, college, or whatever the case may be, that may be

The septic coding, of course. But a good parent will instill in their child, and you should be able to change your tire and all that stuff. That's why my dad told me being a girl doesn't mean that you can't do these things. So, yeah, I agree. Good parenting would help a bunch. But what I've noticed is that it's not helping because people just aren't doing it as much as I think that they should. I mean, just my opinion

I just thought I would post this here that Melinda Williams, the actress Melinda Williams has launched an HBCU coding bootcamp for women. This is what I'm talking about, like, giving back to our community in a way that we can pay it forward to the new generation. So her esteem project is a coding bootcamp, and it's fostering diversity and equal opportunities in tech industries at historic black colleges and universities, so yay

Hey. Hey. So thanks for the invite. When it comes to education and kids, I'm kind of avantgarde. So I'm just gonna list just ten skills quickly that I think kids need to, like, survive. Well, 3.0, and just the speed in which information needs to be inputted and understood and quantified, sorted by quality, and then used for further execution

And yes, life skills definitely need to be taught in school. I don't care what nobody says. Parents have a job of giving this information to the children. True enough. But it should be reinforced in classes that you take in school. And I'm going to give you an example

Basic home repair. You mentioned cooking. A lot of people don't cook nowadays. Back then, they had what was called home economics. They basically did bacon. But why not teach that? There's so many. Oh, man, this was really interesting. I like that. I appreciate it. Thank you very much. It just got me thinking, man. It does

I mean, you might be able to learn some sewing here and there, but to actually be able to do a 1040, just an easy 1040 for your taxes. Like you don't have any dependence or anything like that that would work, but they didn't teach that. But anyway, I'm so glad that you enjoyed this. Swell. And I'm glad it got you thinking. Because I'm telling you, a lot of this is the parents responsibility

Now, this is the first year that I've had a very complicated tax situation, and I needed a tax professional to help me. But most of the time, my taxes are pretty straightforward. I don't have kids, I'm not married. So mine are pretty straightforward. But people need to know how to do their own taxes. They need to know how to. I mean, I know check writing is falling out of favor

These are things that the kids today need to know about and need to inquire into, because their future. Where are they going to stay? Where are they going to live? What are kids going to live? It's a lot riding on this new generation because we, as Generation X, are supposed to be getting taken care of by our millennial children. Well, I don't have millennial children. I have Gen Z children
