What artists should we celebrate? Who deserves their flowers now?

And I started thinking about Ramsay Lewis, who's another jazz pianist that my mom used to play when I was a child around Christmas time. She would play his albums, and I looked at his age and he's about 85 now

And even before that, in the 70s, my dad has an album by Herbie Hancock. It's a little disco time, and I've never really heard it. But if you had that at home, so I may go and look for that, pull it out and bring it home because I'm playing vinyl now

Cassandra Wilson! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Oh, you got me thinking about Cassandra Wilson. Oh, she is such a maestro with her voice. I remember hearing her. I don't know, back in the early 2000s. I guess I just thought she was so just she floated, but she had gravel, like she had this duality to her voice. And I think we don't celebrate her enough. And I think she's probably in her 60s now and just needs our love. I wonder what she's doing now

So he did a lot of innovation in terms of creating those new sounds that we came to associate with people like Roger Troutman and his group Zap. But Herbie Hancock did it before that in the 70s. And then Roger Troutman kind of picked it up in the 80s. So I love that aspect of Herbie Hancocks as well that he's such an innovator in terms of sound. So thank you both for sharing your favorite artists

I just said, H*** that I'm going by myself and I went by myself. But what I really regret is that we have a big venue at the large venue, and then we have a small venue. I've been there to seek Sweat. And in that small venue Prince was doing after parties and he was playing on stage to a small crowd, and they were selling tickets to that. And I didn't buy any tickets. I didn't go

I want to check out the Santana album you mentioned as well, because I don't think I've ever heard it. Thank you for sharing that little bit of trivia about that being one of the last albums that Prince listened to before his passing. That's using something that I didn't know. So thank you for that
