How did you pick your college?

article image placeholderUploaded by @kenzie
Hey, everyone. So today I was wondering how did you decide on where you wanted to go to College? Because I personally had a very tough time. I got into a couple of different schools, all schools that were really good, and I really wanted to go to. But the main deciding factor for me was money because I wasn't interested in I got into USC and they're very good school, but it was going to cost me like 80K to go there

Getting advice for my younger sister who is struggling with the decision making process right now!

Hi, Kenzie. This is a great question for me. I thought that I wanted to go out of state until I realized how expensive it was and how far away I would be. And I'm glad that I didn't make that decision because I'm a type of person that likes to be close enough to my family but far enough away that I could kind of do my own thing

Since I'm a journalism major and I go to SUNY Albany, I think that it was a good choice for me also because I'm in the capital of New York and they do have opportunities to intern with a couple of newspapers out here, intern at the press office and the Capital building. And I think that was kind of important, too, was money, of course. Yes, it was affordability

Okay. So my whole entire life, I knew that I was gonna dorm for College. I did not want to stay at home and be a commuter. And so when it came time to apply to colleges, I did not apply to any cunies and only applied to private colleges upstate New York and Sunnis, and I didn't apply out of state because I could not afford out of state tuition. So I applied to like, four colleges. I applied to three private, and then one Sunny

I have a couple of close friends, but not like a big group. And I ended up in a relationship, which I really didn't think was going to happen. So, yeah, no matter how you picture your experience, I think it's really good to note that it will be different than what you're expecting. I think personally that I based my decision solely off of academic programs

And it's really cool that you were able to look into that before you ended up making your decision. And I think that my sister is also kind of, like, struggling in the sense of, like, La has a lot of opportunities, but it's also really big. And there's a lot of people at our school that will all be competing for the same opportunities

Hi, CJ. I think that student culture and just the overall atmosphere on campus is also something that's really important to think about when you're choosing, like, where you want to go to College. And it sounds like the school that you did pick had a lot of great opportunities for you or programs that really interested you. And that's really cool. I'd love to hear more about your experience with the study abroad

I think it is all about mindset! Congrats to your sister! That is super impressive!

Cal Poly was actually my top choice and I didn't get in, and so that was kind of like a huge bummer for me. But I actually think it worked out because I'm at Berkeley and I'm loving it so much. I also saw San Diego skate, and I really liked it, too. I don't know. There was some major, minor stuff that Berkeley offered that San Diego State didn't have, so I ended up choosing Berkeley

Hey. So for picking a College, honestly, I had a really big, like, change. I would say when I was picking because I was initially supposed to go to the University of Oregon and I planned on going there. I was super excited. I went and visited. I filled out my housing application and everything. But then when it came down to it, I talked to my dad and decided I was going to go to Santa Monica Community College, which is like my Localish community College
