Escapism and TV Shows

article image placeholderUploaded by @katiecal
And then I kind of jumped around to other ones like New Girl. Right now I'm on the OC, which kind of makes me laugh thinking about it. But just shows like that where you can just forget about your problems and fully immerse yourself in these fictional problems. Really valuable and really helpful. I think escapism is underrated. People need it sometimes

I have two!

Hey, Katie, I really like this topic because it gives me the chance to reflect on one of my favorite shows of all time, Boynet's World. It's been there for me for as long as I can remember. I grew up watching it on TV, and I found that I just saw a lot of myself in the show, whether it was Corey or other characters. I mean, that was obviously intentional

Kind of feeling and then Boy Meets World or Friends would be a little bit different because there are scenarios that the average person might run into that they can relate to with the characters. So I think it really just depends on the person and their situation and what they're going through of what shows they're more attracted to

Awesome question about Escapism. I mean I prefer reading books and that's just the most amazing. And these days I've been writing and I escape through my own imagination and I escape into different realities and create realities and then writing it down kind of like I can come back to it later and jump back into it, which is pretty awesome. So I really enjoyed playing with that. It's been really awesome

I have a TV show like Seinfeld or Saved by the Bell where you just forget about the world around you, you escape and to put yourself in the position of the characters and maybe you resignate with one specific character really well, or maybe it just reminds you of someone in your life or in a situation like a situational comedy like Seinfeld where something's always going wrong, or like Friends where your friendships sometimes have issues and you need to resolve them and good things happen and bad things happen

Friends and B99

And the other one who I like in Brooklyn 99 is Charles Boyle and he is like lit. Whatever he does, he is lit. So if anyone has watched it, then please, you can share your favorites too. Here

I think they're really interesting and just funny to see how these different social situations can bring out certain aspects of people. And of course the producers are like super manipulative, but that's another story. But as far as fiction goes, I really like New Girl Friends is obviously a great go to another show I really like is How I Met Your Mother and I'm really excited they came out with How I Met Your Father. That's going to be really good

You can have conversations about that show and those characters and how those characters have changed. And I think that's probably my main thing is the conversations that come out of it later, which I don't know how other people feel about that because it's shows can be for yourself personally, but I think I use them mostly as a conversation starter

My comfort shows...

Hey, Katie. So thank you so much for opening this conversation. And I'm so excited to share that three of the TV shows have been, like, my comfort one. So the first thing, as you said, it's friends, and nobody can ever deny that. So I like that so much because I resonate with each of their characters. And it makes me feel so good when I watch them. And the other two are the animated ones. One is Oswald

Hey, Kerry, I just want to say that I totally agree with you because I just have been through a lot. And I must say Friends was the only thing that was there for me because I found it very comforting and it does not matter actually any kind of given situation. It just made me feel good, at least for the moment that I was watching it
