Who You’re Speaking To

article image placeholderUploaded by @karin.jervert
You. Hey everybody. This is my first Swell, so that's pretty swell and I'm pretty sure that that has made it into a few of many podcasters intros on swell. So I wanted to read something I've been thinking a little bit about audience and how we think about audience when we're writing. And I just want to read this short piece. Perhaps I write because I'm lost and I think someone else knows the way people say this thing about writing that you should know your audience

Hey, welcome to swell. And thank you so much for sharing this piece. I enjoyed it so much for all the questions that it asks, all the answers that it that it that it begs for, like you talk about. And it was just so concise and beautiful and packed with care and thought and emotion, and I loved it. It's the kind of writing I aspire towards. So it was super inspiring

You. Thanks for that, Karin. I find my thoughts going in multiple different directions when I was listening to what you were saying and really listening to what you were asking. And I guess wondering if I can ask myself those same questions. And then I guess asking myself if I come up with answers. You poked and provoked thoughts, and I thank you for that

But I think when you're making art I'm making this up as I'm going I'm thinking out loud on this, but I actually think that the audience is something that is composed out of the work of art, in the creation of the work of art

A lot of my activism work is around finding the spirit and the gold in those moments, because sometimes the line we draw between madness and sanity is quite arbitrary and also limits us from understanding deeper aspects of reality. So please don't worry about sounding mad on my feed. The mad are welcome here. And, um, I just wanted to thank you again for posting such a thoughtful comment. I really do agree with what you said. It's great to hear your thoughts. Thanks
