The Karan Spring was a movement which was largely successful in effecting change. Some would argue that it created a lot of political and economic instability in the short term. It began Indonesia and had a Domino's effect. Governments in Libya and Egypt soon fell. But the one country which didn't see a change in its politics is Syria. It's been about ten years since the civil war in Syria began, and Bashar Al Assad continues to rule over the country
The trouble is that as much as Bashar doesn't want to be there, Bashar Alasada, we go back a bit and talk about Bashar Al Assad because he's a very interesting character. His older brother was being groomed. His father was obviously the President. His older brother was being groomed to be the President, and he was a far more brutal man than Bashar is. So he was given military training, was very clever, was very nasty and ruthless
