And I felt that as an artist myself, as a designer myself, I think it's my duty to make sure everyone else in the community is also getting their views. So I feel it's my way of giving back to the community as much as I am sort of taking away from it. So I think that should essentially sort of help these artisans to sort of be a little more excited. So what we did, we started out coming up with customized products where these guys would come and paint

@AaquibWani Transition from heavy metal to design

Now archive If I'm correct, the first time you got into design was when you started doing creatives for your heavy metal band Phobia. Now, from a heavy metal background to designing huge art installations and wearing venues, how did this transition happen
@AaquibWani
Aaquib Wani
@AaquibWani · 2:34

From designing posters for my heavy metal band to Art Installations

So for me to say designing something on a screen of an a four size to designing something on a screen which would be 100 times bigger than your screen, even more so I think that idea of, of sort designing things larger than life was something that was very interesting, for sure. But at the same time, I always felt like, okay, I have sort of learned as much as I could have learned from designing posters or designing magazine pages

@AaquibWani- the evolution of your work over the years

I really love that growth oriented mindset and I'm someone who gets bored of things easily as well. So I completely get where you're coming from. But you know music obviously did play a big role in your art and design principles so I was wondering if it's still the same way now and how has your work evolved over the years

Music and Design

So we designed the entire brand identity for the festival last year we did something for red FM south side story so there is a connected music of course it stays with me and it's something I continuously want to be a part of even though it's not something that we are going out there and screaming to the world saying that okay we want music related projects

@AaquibWani Formal training vs self education

So from your personal journey, would you say that passion, instinct on the job, learning and working alongside great talent, do you think this can be a viable substitute to formal classroom training? And on the flip side, do you think there are any drawbacks to being self taught
@AaquibWani

Being a self taught designer

But for me to say failure has been my teacher all these years, honestly. And I have sort of gone along with the flow, honestly, to say, what is it that I want to do? Do certain things, work out certain things don't? Maybe. And I think, honestly, that has sort of put me sort of paved my way into this entire world of design, honestly

@AaquibWani- impact and power of design

Sakiba. I think, as you can see, there are a lot of people tuning into this conversation and are quite eager to connect with you and ask you questions. So I just have one final one from my side. People like to think graphic design is just about creating aesthetic logos and posters, and sometimes they forget that it's a powerful tool to convey a message. And at the heart of it is art right above everything else

I feel privileged that I'm a part of Swell. And so many creators, such as Aaquibwani, who's doing a lot of good things in his life and being a part of Swell, give me a proud sense after listening to his introduction, and I'm looking forward to his voice of opinion

Difference between design and art

It's about what you feel, what you think is what you paint down your thoughts, how a poet would write down things, how a painter would paint down something that he's got, how a musician would put out a tune. So there's a difference here. And when we're talking about design specifically, when it comes to graphic design, we art talking about communication. Like I said, we're talking about solving a problem

I have a question for you. That apnea jouler that you have artisans and your painting that is lost the job due to the technology cancer or the covet. So how did you gather that become gushed up there and with that efficiency and quality? Because the view say it looks fascinating. We are wearing those jackets in parties or in the College. But you know, reality, that is a bigger task. So how did you do that

Hi Aishani, thank you so much for your questions. Well, my other interests, honestly, include dancing first thing in the morning. I truly, truly enjoy dancing. And if you see me at a wedding or at a party, I would be the first just want to start the dance. That's what I truly enjoy

How custom wearables by Aaquib Wani started

Thank you for your question. Yashi. I'm gonna start by saying how it all started for me. I had a jacket that I didn't want to throw, and, you know, Purana who gets a washed. And I felt like, you know, and that's when I was like, let me get in touch with a local street sign painter

Things I do apart from working

Yashi. Anything that kept me energized, that keeps me going. I love cleaning, I love cooking or just like any other known positive. And other than that, I don't really have that much of an interest in the movies or anything. But then again, if there's a really cool, interesting series that's released and that's something I would totally want to watch, I do that. Documentaries. Yes, would watch it sometimes

How I became a musician

I picked up the guitar and started learning tunes such as DDLJ's main theme song, or even learning simpler, simpler, older tunes. That would be very simple. And from there on, I went on to learn guitar chords, and then everything else followed. And then automatically I started looking at people in school who art also into the same kind of music that's that I was into. And we started playing. And from there, only the journey as a musician for me started

My favourite artists!

And from there on, when I got into the world of designing spaces installations, there was Yayoi Kusama. She was a great inspiration. There is Anish Kapoor, obviously, as well. And then Rajiv is there. These are some of the big names that are there that I felt, you know, while growing up. These were some names I felt were quite inspirational for me just to look at their body work. The amount of work that they had done was very, very inspirational

The societal pressure to become an engineer or a doctor as opposed to becom

So yeah, I think for me life came to a full circle moment because my uncle, he would always tell me what is it that this is that you're doing? But then again, while growing up, when he saw me doing great things, they specifically asked me, my son wants to become a designer. Can you please help him out? Is when I was like okay, only when he saw the results is when he felt okay. Maybe his son should do the same

@gungunbansal_ piece of advice is being consistent!

Thank you for your question. Gungun. Well, that one piece of advice that I heard from someone and is still with me is to be consistent. And I truly feel that, you know, if you're consistent with your work, if you're consistent with something, even if it means it has as something that you're doing is not doing great. For example, if I'm putting something out as something at my work, it's not nice. Some Das, it will be very nice

Hey, Akib, thank you for answering, even though I asked my question much later than the entire session was over. And the first thing I want to tell you is that you're very humble. That's why I that. Yeah. That's the type of artists I really like, the ones who are very humble
