America’s Feelings on Visual Art and how it impacts artists
But visual art as a whole, especially for studio art, is just looked down upon because I feel like American culture just isn't respected because it isn't the first thing that people think about when it comes to, oh, like, will that make you money? The goal is to be commercialized or commodified, and when it comes to art, it's kind of hard to do that easily

And it's really difficult to be inspired and constantly motivate yourself to go and create work when you don't feel like it. There's a certain ease to just doing math problems or writing an essay that there isn't with art, because art takes a lot of creative energy, and it's a lot of. And I feel like I can speak pretty well to this because as an engineering major, I do a lot of math problems

I feel like this culture was more patient and less consumerist and materialist. I think it could value art way more because, yeah, there's art galleries and everything, but the actual process of making art, drawing, painting, sculpture, if that's the word wood making, it's really, really tedious, and I feel like a lot of people would benefit from it
I think consumerism plays a big role in kind of like this devaluing of art and uniqueness that comes with creation. And I think in many ways that trickles down into our education system. When we think about where funding goes within institutions, it usually is that the nicer buildings are the Stem buildings and the art buildings are pretty crappy
