Is Digital Art "cheating"?

article image placeholderUploaded by @jomariexann
I feel like when it comes to digital art, there's so many arbitrary rules that these traditionalists put on it. And I just don't think it's applicable. Because if you draw digitally, then chances are you draw traditionally or vice versa. You don't really start from scratch when you start doing digital art, the skills that you learn in traditional art is going to be applied, but it's going to be a different process like anything else for fellow artists or non artists out there

My thoughts on digital art

Definitely not cheating

From a non artist perspective, or at least an artist in drawing. I definitely think it's not cheating at all. And I think it's even harder to draw digital than a traditional because the field is totally different, I guess. And digital you have more abilities, but definitely not cheating. Definitely not. And that's the perspective of an artist in drawing

So I am a graphic design student, and when I heard it, I was like, wow, how yes, skill is important, but the art and the most important factor of being an artist is to make decisions. And when you are in a creative process, it's all about making certain decisions. So whenever I hear someone saying that digital art is cheating, I'm thinking how hard it is to actually make a piece digitally

Hello, I totally agree with you, especially when it comes to the fact that we make choices when it comes to digital art, I don't think anyone reasonable expects people to do fonts by hand or to do perfect symmetry by hand. It is almost impossible and we art only human. Digital art gives us certain tools and it is within our right to use them
