Rushmore: Wes Anderson’s & Crafting the Most Meaningful Soundtracks

article image placeholderRushmore
Making Time. Jessica McMillan here Bringing You Making Time by The Creation, the first track on the Rushmore soundtrack, which happens to belong to probably my favorite movie of all time. Today, I want to talk about important soundtracks, soundtracks where the music is inextricably woven into the meaning and the tone of the film. Wes Anderson makes the music foregrounded. He makes it one of the most important things about the film, and he famously chooses the songs before filming even happens

Oh, I love everything about this. Well, it brings me back to the movie, to the magnificence of west, and to all these great songs, and he really does position music so upfront and eggs us to sort of look at the whole organic way of storytelling, where sound is so important, where lyrics are important, where the vibe and the push of a groove just can change the entire cadence of a script that's over it

Wes Anderson love

Rushmore is only one of many films with amazing music right at the forefront, but it's definitely my gateway. And I hope you really enjoy re watching it. And I cannot wait for the French dispatch. Thanks so much. Bye
