Who Do You Think You Are?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Jenny_Ward
And then a friend of mine who worked in recruitment said, hey, we're hiring a recruiter. You'd be really good. I thought, really? But then my need for validation swelled up and said, they think you'd be good. You should do it. So I did, and I kept doing it. And after 15 years of recruitment, sure, yeah, sure, I was good at it. I'm organized, I'm personable. I can get s*** done

Gone are the days where you have one career and then you retire with a pension and a gold watch and all that good stuff. I also have a problem with wanderlust. I'm always looking for more, wondering what else I can do and so forth. So I actually don't like to answer that question, who do you think you are? I like to think that I'm a kind and interesting and curious person. So I like to answer that with saying that I am evolving

What you were doing at that time was not normal. Working from home, taking the risk when you have a child to leave a full time job, to do contract work, that was not the norm. And I feel like, sure, men and women, but women, especially young women right now, need to hear that and need to hear your story. So I would encourage you to share that. And where do you live? Can we be friends?

And it sounds like you had that same or similar example set for you. And the fact that you deviated from that and you have these many different, not just, like, roots of income, but passions for you is incredibly admirable. And I would be interested to hear from you given the cookie cutter I don't want to say cookie cutter in a bad way. That was the generation. But what was your family's response to you not having, like, a typical nine to five? I

You. Well, you sound like an absolute inspiration to your grandkids. And I want to be you when I grow up. I want to be able to just pick and choose what I do and have that freedom and know that the things I'm doing are making an impact. So I appreciate you sharing your story, and I truly feel so inspired by the path you've chosen in your life, my friend

But he talks about how the most interesting people he knows still in their 40s don't know what they want to do with their life. And it doesn't mean they haven't done anything, but it means they haven't settled on that one thing that's going to bring them joy and love and fulfillment and completion forever. Because the most interesting people, in my opinion, are learning to grow or learning to evolve and are wanting to expand themselves
