What I wish I knew about being Vegan 🌱

When I was growing up. Now, for context, I have been a vegetarian my entire life. I had always thought that I couldn't live without milk or cheese, and this is not going to be me trying to convince you to be vegan because it is definitely a choice that's very personal. But here are some things that I wish I understood about being vegan. Firstly, I really, really wish that I would have tried almond milk sooner

Talking about my transition from Vegetarian to Vegan and dispelling some misconceptions

And I think when you find what you like, it's a lot easier to eat because I don't personally care if I eat the same thing two, three, four times in one week, as long as it makes me feel good. And I think that is the most important takeaway that I have for making this sort of shift is I just feel much better and I'm actually staring at a pint of cashew milk so delicious ice cream right now, the snicker doodle kind

And I do want to just kind of voice a complaint that I am tired of typing in vegan cookies on Google to try to get a yummy cookie recipe, and all that comes up is like keto cookies or cookies that are healthy. I'm like, no, I'm not eating cookies to be healthy. I'm eating cookies because I want a cookie and it makes me feel good. And that's okay if it's not necessarily inherently healthy because I'm eating what makes me feel good

And after two weeks I felt like a completely different person, like I would wake up energized, my skin cleared up. I didn't have that foggy feeling in my head. And in general, I think just because I lost water weight, I just felt I didn't have as many aches and pains right now. Granted, I was younger then, and so I think a lot of these things have just gotten worse

But I did want to note that it's really easy to be vegan when one you can afford that lifestyle, but also living in Los Angeles, it's so easy because pretty much every restaurant now has vegan options or at least vegetarian options. And so it's really important to note that depending on where you live and your financial status really has a big say in what your diet is

I believe it's a lot more expensive to pay for future disease and health care than it is to pay for healthy food. Now, not to mention that's just the financial aspect of it. What cost is it going to be for an individual when they are dying or sick or living for decades with a debilitating disease? There's that cost involved too. So I kind of don't think it's wise to say that people can't afford it because can they afford to get sick?

Or it's an individual choice because it's really not just an individual choice. It's a choice that literally affects the entire planet. So that's all for now. Thanks
