But it was that moment when I pinned this piece which drew me into writing versus and nowadays I see myself as a person who writes, writes to satisfy an unending spirit of inquiry, writes out of love, and for whom poetry is the best medium of articulation when it comes to expressing those views which cannot be put forward through direct, literal statements. I used to send my points as far as I can remember then to magazines and journals, and I would share that one fine day it got accepted

Maybe there are some inhibitions or something that just stops you, or maybe you don't find the right words to express, but art does that for you. So it's a very personal experience as well. My next question to you would be be in a world that thrives on instant gratification and consumption. How did you, as a poet, strive to be taken seriously

I have always written, in fact, out of my love towards poetry. I never strive to become a poet. All I needed after a poet was a space where I could revisit myself through that particular piece. Something like standing in front of a mirror without wanting to see the same person in the same or similar position. An element of surprise is still what I need, revisiting the life I have led thus far and of the world I envisioned to belong to in coming years

You come from Kolkata, which is my city as well, and it's undeniable that our has a strong literary culture. How did the city, you'd say, shape your thoughts and inspire you on your journey

And even many small and local events do take place every day in Kolkata. So it is always nice to attach yourself to culture, to know about culture, and to keep pace with culture. And poetry is a part of the culture from the city I belong. So, yes, the city indeed has a nice effect. It always has a nice effect on cultural lovers. But as I told that if you just take a look, art my poems

Yes, Kolakata, I think always presents to you with the option and opportunity to get in touch with culture whenever you want. There are these beautiful art galleries and as you mentioned, there's Robinja Shodoon, there Art Street area and there's so much to explore in the city. And in terms of rural Bengal, I think that's a different kind of beauty

I think while saying this, I could reply as well to your query as why I prefer keeping this unsettled thing beside my name. It is not about something special. Actually, we all are unsettled. Life itself is unsettled. We never know what's in to come in our life. And kind of travel introduced me to the essential fact in a better way, in a more positive way. So I still use this word unsettled

Well, the last bit you said, I mean, if you look at it that way, it's it's quite philosophical, isn't it? I mean, yeah, it's true. Somewhere deep down, I think every single human being is sort of unsettled. It's not every single. Well, I won't generalize or speak for everybody, at least a lot of us, maybe most of us and some of us, maybe we just suppress it, this unsettling feeling

The vision to start Vsville and chair poetry readings was to do something sustainable for the cause of poetry in the culture, culture capital of India to create avenues where good poetry can find a place to settle and thrive. In Indian in particular, I would say there are several literary avenues, festivals, clubs, but with very less focus on poetry

Yeah. I absolutely love the idea of bringing poets from all over the world on one single platform. I mean, then exchanging ideas is a great thing, and it's an amazing initiative on your side. And he's hoping that the journals do even better and all the best for your future journey. And thank you so much, Summit, for this lovely conversation. I did enjoy it a lot, and I hope you had a great time as well
