And every now and then and every one of the other person is struggling with something or the other because we are living in the time of uncertainty. So there is still the lack of awareness. There's still the lack of understanding that what therapy means, how these problems can be treated and how these issues can be tackled with what is the importance of a psychotherapist, a psychologist or a counselor and what role they play in your life

How does a person, according to you, know if they are just sad or if their sadness is something that goes deeper? How do people know that they need to seek help? When they need to seek help, what are the indicators, according to you

Something is adding to your personality or something is subtracting from your personality, which is very intense than a normal thing or on a normal level. And that is affecting you personally and feels like that. Okay. You have depleted all your emotional resources dealing with that. And if I talk very professional about this so as a professionalist, we consult ESM Five, that is Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders

And as is the case with today's generation, with the millennials, with the Gen Z who are active on social media and social media itself, perpetuates certain beauty standards which are far away from achievable right or far away from practical, does therapy help to deal with body image issues with such almost this distorted perception of one's body that whatever one is seeing in the middle is somehow not right and whatever is there on social media, whatever is there in popular media, that is the idea

And once a person enters in a therapeutic relationship with a counselor or psychologist, they are able to first identify that what are those reasons from where this problem has perturbed and it has increased to this level and then they help to reach to the root cause, helps the person to develop that kind of an insight and of course, deal with these issues and replace those irrational thoughts or core beliefs where they have actually started to look at themselves in a different manner, where they feel that they have certain issues, the way they look and of course, the eating disorders which are also connected with body image issues

Right. So at least seeking professional help can help us gain a sense of direction. I think in the path of healing, are there any tips which you would like to share to overcome stress, burnout and feeling overwhelmed

Talk about your emotions regularly. Like we eat food regularly. Similarly bringing out those emotions, having someone with whom you can confide with. So these are the things which always regularly help you do certain physical exercises. Also, if you're not able to do that every day, at least try to do it three times a week

Well, taking note of all of those tips, Drharshika. General mental health can be a hard subject to bring up. If there's someone close to us who seems to be especially in some sort of distress or is feeling very anxious, how do we approach them? As a psychotherapist? What would you suggest? If we were worried about the mental health of someone close to us? How do we go about it?

And the second thing you can do if you feel that the problem is very intense and they are not able to handle that alone, helping them to find their way and motivating them to actually contact with a professional, because in these kinds of manners, a professional will help them in a better way. But if they are not yet ready, we are not supposed to force them to find help because that will do no good to them out of the will
