In Conversation with YouTuber and Public Speaking Coach—Jaya Jagdeesh

article image placeholderUploaded by @Aishani
A very good evening, and welcome to a fresh new segment of Indian Talk. Today we have with us Jay Jagdish, a YouTuber who also happens to be a public speaking coach. Welcome, Ja. My first question to you would be, how did you work on your skills as a public speaker? Did you have any sort of formal training, any voice lessons, or were you always unnatural at it

Am I a natural Speaker?

I used to keep on thinking in English. I used to keep on working on myself during that lockdown. I mean when I started my YouTube channel. So since I was consistently practicing and having that habit of speaking I think that's what actually made me a natural speaker. Yeah, that's what I would like to say

So practice makes perfect holds true here as well. And Jaya, your journey is really inspiring from the lockdown days till now. I think you've come a really long way and there's definitely a long, long way to go. How important is it to be Jordan authentic when speaking in public according to you and why

@Aishani Being Real And Authentic.

So the best technique to cover people is that you can share your experience, you can share your life stories, you can share your learnings. So this is what they call like the art of storytelling. So with the help of storytelling, you should be able to convey the message clearly. So when you're able to convey it clearly, people will be able to understand what exactly you went through. So at that time, you will be able to influence them as well

Yeah, I definitely agree with you here that faking it is really not the way to go because as you said, there are a lot of people who can just give a set of basic sort of speech, but that won't touch anybody. So, yes, definitely, it's important to be yourself when giving a speech or speaking to a group of people. And that's how I think our true personality comes across

@Aishani Funny moments which changed my career

They are just in that specific gang and they're just not trying to upgrade themselves. But you on the other side, you're trying to be unique, you're trying to be someone whom people can look up to you who can be inspired by you. So at that time I felt like, okay, it's something which I want to do, it's something which I like doing it. So I like speaking, I'm doing this for myself

Well, that was really mean of your classmates. But look how the tables have turned now and where you are today. And as you said, I don't think there could have been an intenser burn than them having to watch your reels. I mean, and they can clearly see that you've made it and you're successful. You overcame all the odds, and you are where you are now

@Aishani Quote which I believe

And I think that's the reason why things pushed me towards doing the things which I like. And after just one year, I think I got my desired result because I wanted more reach. I wanted people to know me. I want people to know my job and what I do. So at that time I started my Instagram account and the people started following me. And then even I could not expect that I would get these many reach one day

Hi Jaya. I'm a student of second year Indian and sometimes I still face stage fear. How did you overcome that? Because I still face a lot of fear, like when I have to speak something in front of a lot of people. I still face a lot of anxiety and start sweating. How did you overcome that? It will be really helpful for us. Thank you

#publicspeaking

Hi, Jaya. One thing I want to ask, as you're a public speaker, do you find it difficult that if people comment bad things about you or they don't understand what you're trying to say, like they you are not able to influence anyone through your public speaking skills. Let me know how you feel about it. Thank you

Second is definitely when there are on the spot debates and on the spot speeches, I find some material, whatever I could find on that time. But there is more. And I realize it after my speed. So, yeah. That there could be more things I could say and it happens every time. So even I want to know. Thank you

So good. Really, very good. I just appreciate how you talk. How you speak in front of the people. And the way you speak. It's very nice. And what I like like about you is you speak in English, but you speak a simple language, not the high class language that no one can understand. You simply simply use some amount of words that can be UN understood by each and every person in a very simple way
